ACLU Says: We will defend voter fraud all the way to the Supreme Court…
Posted on January 10, 2008
…and even use someone engaged in voter fraud to do it!
How anyone can be opposed to the seemingly “no-duh” idea that one should be able to properly identify himself or herself in order to vote in America boggles the rational mind. Isn’t having your vote count the fundamental right of each citizen in our blessed republic?
Not as far as the ACLU, the Indiana Democrats and the Indiana League of Women Voters are concerned. They are all for subverting the democratic process and making voter fraud as easy as buying a pack of Bubblicious. Their case challenging the no-duh Indiana law that requires valid ID in order to vote was heard yesterday at the Supreme Court.
“There is nothing more fundamental to our democracy than the right to vote,” said Ken Falk, Legal Director of the ACLU of Indiana and lead counsel on the case. “Onerous voter ID laws like Indiana’s do not prevent fraud — they create excessive burdens on voting rights without any justification whatsoever. It is our hope that the Supreme Court will reject the deceptive voter fraud myth by strongly reaffirming the right to vote in this country.”
So high-minded. Uh, yeah. Turns out the ILWV’s key client is a poster child for exactly why these laws is needed in EVERY state. So much for your “myth” ACLU.
Hotair: That woman who’s challenging Indiana’s voter ID law? Registered to vote in two states.
Your delicious irony of the day comes from Florida and Indiana. The litigant who is trying to kill off Indiana’s voter ID law is a walking, talking case of potential voter fraud. She certainly appears to have broken the law by registering to vote in both Indiana and Florida, and by claiming homestead tax exemption in both states. But let’s re-write the law so she doesn’t have to provide proper ID before voting!
There is so much more to this story. You need to read it.
So, the ACLU couldn’t find anyone that has supposedly been burdened by the Indiana law. A key player is either a simple ignoramous or a felon gaming the system. (Sorry, I don’t buy the “confused old lady” bit — she was only 65 when she seems to have begun this little fraud game, she’s not the 93-year-old Fancy Feast-eating shut-in). They argue that this would “harm” a certain portion of the population (Democrat voters is what they really mean) by “forcing them” to get an ID (who doesn’t have an ID and if someone doesn’t have time to get an ID, how do they find time to register to vote or get to the polls???). Let’s get real. This is about one thing and one thing only — helping Democrats get elected (funny that the Left admits that its voters are more likely to commit voter fraud).
ACLU –save your floral rhetoric. We know your game.
Thankfully, the Supreme Court doesn’t seem to be buying it.

Coupla’ questions. 1. Why would the ILWV lawyer be present when this woman was trying to vote if not purposefully trying to find something wrong with the law for litigation reasons? I am guessing that she had prior knowledge of the situation, isn’t that illegal for attorneys to actively be a part of KNOWN illegal behavior, and isn’t she criminally liable for her participation? Can’t she actually be disbarred? 2. How is this lady able to file homestead exemption in two states? Gimme my money, Brian.
Okay, question number one was not really just one question.
THE REAL VOTER FRAUD IS DIEBOLD AND STATES RELYING ON PRIVATE CONTRACTORS TO COUNT THEIR VOTES! I’M REGISTERED TO VOTE IN 3 STATES THIS YEAR, WHY??? BECAUSE I HAPPENED TO MOVE THROUGH 3 STATES LAST YEAR, DOESN’T MEAN I’M GOING TO VOTE IN THE OTHER 2 STATES I LIVED IN YOU MORONS
Hey Lucky–
Did you even bother to read the links in the post? Ummmmmm…no, you didn’t. Obviously.
The voter ID requirements are only meant to help the Republicans keep an unfair advantage in the elections. Voter fraud is not a legitimate issue, but there are many people who will not vote if they need a specific ID to do so–people who should have the right to vote. Poorer people, struggling people, mostly Democrats.
This is one tool used by BushCo to win in 2004–this, caging lists, and flawed (and not enough) voting machines going to poorer counties. I say the ACLU is right on this one. It’s not a “no-duh”.
Don’t believe me, but don’t read propaganda and think its fact, either, do some objective research on the web and find out the truth for yourselves!!!!
WakeUp–
What you wrote is satire, right?
“Unfair advantage?”
So you are saying that the only way the Democrats can win is if there is maximum voter fraud? Interesting.
If you seriously think that people shouldn’t have to prove who they are in order to vote, you do not believe in the legitimate democratic process. Since you are so clueless and so willing to give up your vote, just go ahead and stay home.
It seems to me that both parties have cheated in the past and Washington state is a prime example of how votes suddenly appear when needed.
However, we are now talking about individuals and requiring those individuals to prove who they are before they vote. You need ID to buy cigarettes, booze and board a plane. How is it that we can say ID is not needed to protect one of our most basic liberties?
Requiring an ID does not disadvantage anyone. I imagine that these same so called disadvantaged poor people (mostly Democrat is what one writer called them) have no trouble producing ID to obtain government services or cash a government check…
Speaking of the Dems and voter fraud, I find it really interesting that the Dems are the ones supporting all mail-in ballots for the 2008 election in Colorado.
The voting machines have all been declared invalid and need to be recertified and there’s a lot of doubt as to whether that can be done in time.
I can’t think of anything more fraud-prone than a mail-in ballot. And it certainly gets around any voter ID laws, doesn’t it?
Americans have a right to vote, and no Republican maneuver should come between Americans and their right to vote.
Prohibitive photo ID laws are designed to deny certain Americans their right to vote.
Jerimee, your email is not surprising at all being that it comes from the following domain:
“mail.ncdemocraticparty.org”
Of course “Americans have the right to vote.” No one is trying to take that away. However, what the Dems are doing is continuing its historic affinity for voter fraud.
How is it “prohibitive” to require one to prove his or her identity before carrying out our most important duty as citizens? I guess you would prefer legitimate votes be cancelled out by frauds who vote two, three, four times and by others, like the deceased, whom the Democrats seem to get out to the polls in nearly every election.
For Democrats, it’s win at all costs by any means, even if the cost is our system of government and the mean are election fraud and lies.
For Republicans, it’s win at all costs by any means, and if we have to disenfranchise minority voters to do that, well that’s business as usual for the GOP.
Your man Alberto Gonzales lost his job in part because the brightest lawyers in the GOP could not find ANY significant evidence of voter fraud in 2004 or 2006.
Gonzales fired the ones who refused to manufacture evidence, but even the ones who were willing to play ball eventually had to concede the no significant voter fraud occurred.
I don’t envy the GOP for having to play dirty to win. Best of luck.
