Go to http://www.foxnews.com today (January 6) and you will easily see the header “GOP Candidate Square off Tonight at 8:00 ET.”

Would you refer to “squaring off” as a forum, or a debate? Sounds to me like a debate.

And yes, Ron Paul is not invited to the event based on his “poll” numbers. Fox has nicely disgraced itself, especially in light of how badly Ron Paul beat Giuliani in Iowa (and yet Giuliani has the privilege of “squaring off” tonight).

“The first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary serves a national purpose by giving all candidates an equal opportunity on a level playing field,” said Republican chair Fergus Cullen. “Only in New Hampshire do lesser known, lesser funded underdogs have a fighting chance to establish themselves as national figures.”

The Fox debate is excluding Texas Congressman Ron Paul even though he polls higher in New Hampshire and has raised significantly more money, and is campaigning more in New Hampshire than Fred Thompson who is invited.

“We look forward to presenting a substantive forum which will serve as the first program of its kind this election season,” David Rhodes, vice president of Fox News, said in a statement.

WMUR’s criteria is more or less reasonable. Fox, OTOH, didn’t specify any criteria. They just picked their pro-war buddies with no concern for polls, funds, or the results in Iowa.

There’s no Fox debate, but there is a Fox forum and from the best information available, he is being excluded. Seeing as how Fox still hasn’t commented on it, I’m inclined to believe the campaign.

To Whom it may Concern,

I am writing to express my disappointment and displeasure upon discovering Dr. Ron Paul will be excluded from the New Hampshire Debates. Dr. Paul has placed #1 among Republicans AND Democrats at AOL’s spam-proof poll. Dr. Paul LEADS ALL Republican candidates in fund raising this quarter. Dr. Paul is tied for third place in IOWA. Dr. Paul’s support is known to be great among Independents, former Republicans and Democrats. Surely these people deserve to have their candidate heard! Dr. Paul Is the MOST searched for candidate on the internet. The exclusion of Dr. Paul from these debates would be for me the final convincing piece of evidence that we the American citizens are no longer in control of our destiny. Once the process to file FEDERAL complaints via the FCC is automated, you may expect a flood of letters to your affiliate stations stating FOX affiliates are NOT acting in the public interest.
