Blogburst for Fred Thompson
Posted on December 26, 2007
Want to see the above ad played in Iowa? Fred would too, but needs your help. Rick Moran is leading the way for bloggers to help Fred Thompson in Iowa.
Dear Friends,
I am writing to ask for your help.
All of us know the long odds faced by Fred Thompson in his efforts to win the GOP nomination for president. I’m sure you are all aware that Fred has undertaken pretty much of a do or die bus tour of Iowa in order to finish strongly in the Caucuses on January 3.
Many of you have already taken steps to support the Thompson campaign in a tangible way by placing fundraising widgets on your sidebar and writing about the campaign. In this way, each of us alone has done whatever we can to support Fred in his efforts.
But at this, the 11th hour of the campaign in Iowa, I think it would be a very effective fundraising tool if as many of us as possible were to participate in an old-fashioned Blogburst, writing a post asking readers to donate to the campaign while embedding a fundraising widget in the post for convenience.
I propose Thursday, December 27 for the Blogburst. If you have an email list, I would urge you to ask your subscribers to donate. If you know of other bloggers who support Fred, please forward this email and ask them to participate as well.
Not expecting a “money bomb†but even a few tens of thousands of dollars would help, I’m sure. Given the number of readers represented in the blogs listed here (where I got all of your email addresses) and your cooperation, I feel confident we can give a real shot in the arm to the campaign.
I don’t think any of us believe that our endorsement of Thompson alone means that much in the long run. But working together, uniting for one day and speaking with one voice, I think we could make a significant impact on Fred’s chances in Iowa. After all, when the candidate you support rolls the dice as Fred has, the least we can do is back his play to the best of our ability.
No need to respond to this email. Just do it.
Merry Christmas,
Rick Moran
Right Wing NuthouseIf you are a blogger who supports Fred, please participate in this Blogburst. If you know of a blogger who supports Fred, I urge you to contact them and ask them to participate.
For me, it comes down to this. If Fred isn’t nominated, I doubt very much that I will show up at the polls next November. Not to punish the party but simply because there is no one in the race who would be representing my views or who I could in good conscience, support for president.
This is why despite his long shot status, every effort must be made to help Fred Thompson continue the campaign by contributing to his efforts in Iowa. I’m going to give on Thursday and I hope you do too.
I feel much the same way, and I know that many other bloggers do as well. So lets get this thing rolling! If you haven’t already, go contribute. If you can’t afford it, at least join us in spreading the word.

Thanks for the notice. I’ve got my blogburst for Fred up now at
http://faultlineusa.blogspot.com/2007/12/blogburst-for-fred-thompson.html
Fred MUST do well in Iowa on Jan 3rd. He entered this race only a few months ago as a result of popular demand. He did not have years to prepare his campaign as did the other candidates and his detractors have used late entry to dismiss him as lazy and disinterested. ONLY by a good showing in Iowa can we demonstrate that he is a viable candidate that can win the nomination. Please help get the word out in Iowa. He remains our best hope for a win in November.
Fred is the one for me!! I thank all the blogger’s out there that are pulling for him!! Good luck!!
As I wrote here, I’ve got a thousand reasons (actually 1,000+) why Fred Thompson is the best choice for our next president.
No other candidate has laid out as many detailed plans to fix what ails America, whether it’s immigration, taxes, judges or terrorism.
McCain’s too likely to pick another Sandra Day O’Connor, too likely to side with Democrats on taxes.
Who knows what Romney will do?
Simply put, the ‘Huckster’ is a pro life Democrat.
That leaves Fred & Rudy. While I could support Rudy, he isn’t as impressive as Fred.
Did I mention that I love Fred’s unwavering commitment to federalism?
I’m in. I feel the same way about showing up at the polls with no Fred. Thursday morning I will write and post another plea for Fred, along with widget, and post to MySpace bulletins as well.
What need sot be done is for each blogger who supports Fred to call ten people (or more) in Iowa as a Fred volunteer.
It’s a personal touch, that lets nascent Fred supporters that they are not alone.
By reaching 40,000 caucus goers we can turn this race into a suprising upset.
I plan to let them know I want to vote for Fred in Florida, and need their help to keep his campaign alive.
We’ve got six days left to make or break Fred’s campaign.
Go to the website follow the script that makes it so easy.

Join me in this incredible opportunity to do something historic…just by calling ten people….ten people who are Republicans.

Not according to OnTheIssues.com which pegs him as an 8 on economic issues which is two shy of as conservative as you can be. You of course may be an extremist which would put him to the left of you.
Fred is a mere 6 on the same scale so he is even more left than Huckabee. Of Course you can go by his words instead of his record but don’t be surprised when you get burned.

If that’s their ratings, then OnTheIssues.com’s ratings aren’t worth crap. Huckabee raised taxes but didn’t lift a finger to cleanse his state of illegal immigrants.
Worse yet, Huckabee’s Fair Tax is an economic disaster waiting to happen. It’s the biggest tax increase yet.
That’s your idea of conservatism???
Fred Thompson voted for every tax cut that he had the chance to vote for. Fred also chaired a committee that put together a list of over 1,000 programs & agencies that waste the taxpayers’ money. Fred’s also staunchly anti-illegal immigration, fiercely federalist & staunchly pro-life.
That’s my idea of a conservative.
As for “going by his words”, I check people’s quotes, then I do my own research. With tons of information at my fingertips, I don’t automatically take anyone’s word for anything.
Just signed upp for a blog not sure how it works but I’m not too old to learn.Go Fred!

Then your God is money. That is pretty normal in the U.S. on both sides of the political spectrum and has been going on since the U.S. has been a country. It seems to work alright with each side getting power as the extremes of the other adversely effect the economics of the nation.
One problem with cutting taxes without cutting spending though. It sells the U.S. out to foreign countries like China as we run up our bills.
HOW CAN WE SPREAD THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE AMONG IOWA VOTERS…CAN ANOTHER “BLOGBURST FOR FRED” BE DONE OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS???
