Fred Thompson’s Awesome Holiday Message
Posted on December 22, 2007
It wins the holiday messages from candidates hands down! He completely keeps overt politics out of it, and doesn’t even appear in it! Very classy, and doesn’t even plug his website. The subject matter is right on. This gave me chills. He could have went the overtly political route like Huckabee and Hillary, but he didn’t. I think that speaks volumes. Captain Ed and Blue Crab Boulevard agree.

I know you’re officially biased now, but let’s call a spade a spade. Militarism is a central part of his platform, so him showing the softer side of the military is no less political than a liberal depicting well-fed poor kids.
If his goal was just to wish the troops a Merry Christmas, he would have resisted the urge to put his name in big bold letters at the end.
Here is what an apolitical Christmas greeting looks like. It won’t win any film awards, but it’s pure Christmas without even a hint of policy.
I never said it wasn’t political Jeff, just not “overtly” political. I may be biased, but you have to admit…its classier than any other candidate’s Christmas message has been.
I stand corrected. I don’t see how covert politics is any more “classy”, though.
Its classier because it focuses on others. The focus isn’t on Thompson, but the military. Take the others with bright white crosses in the background, or socialist santa clause Hillary, or Santa endorsing Rudy, etc. These are obviously all about them.
This is by far the best kind of Christmas greeting. Thank you and thank you to Fred Thompson too. God bless our troops and keep them safe.

Jeff, have you ever seen a Christmas Card that didn’t have the name of the sender on it?
Methinks thou dost protestest too much.
Merry Christmas, anyway.

Oh, yeah, Jeff – like Ron Paul’s video isn’t overt? [snort] It’s “apolitical”?! [rolls eyes] Fred didn’t plaster his face all over his video – he kept the focus on our troops. Now, don’t get me wrong, Paul’s video was cute – but Fred’s was simple and straight to the point, with far less self promotion.
Jay, thanks for finding this – excellent!
Josh is right. A card without a signature doesn’t make too much sense. Certainly, it comes from a candidate. That’s reality. But Fred did it with his usual classiness.
And while Fred didn’t promote his own website, maybe I’ll do it for him.
Just call him Molby DICK.
I think Jeff’s first comment was spot on — Thompson’s platform is the military. At the same time Paul’s Christmas message is, if anything, LESS political because he just wishes everyone a Merry Christmas.
And Jay — you of all people should notice — while Thompson’s message does dare to mention “God,” he still goes with the PC “Holiday” — while Paul goes with “Merry Christmas.”
Ogre, the music was “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” “Happy Holidays” avoids redundancy.
When I speak of “holidays” that means more than one. So Christmas isn’t appropriate it I’m including New Years as well. I think the same applies to Fred.
Good point, Jay.
Now the real question is whether or not NBC will try to find some way to avoid broadcasting the message…
I am a McCain supporter and I must say Mr. Thompson that this is a wonderful holiday message.God Bless You and Yours. I hope that we all remember the real reason for the season.
I think the important message is Support the Troops. Liberals could care less about them. Ron Paul is a liberal and is going nowhere come time to vote! Fred Thompson is a sleeping and will win. Remember who said this!
By the way, Jay, keep working on the “Bloggers support Thompson” list. I sent it from Curt’s (which references you) to major FOX addys. Wanted them to know what they were missing from their ivory tower.
Fred Thompson’s Christmas ad was the best of all. It clearly showed he puts others first before himself. He is for sure not a greedy or selfish candidate. And he is the most Honest IMHO. Fred is the only candidate that deserves to be president. Period! Fred has class, and leadership, and Integrity. Salute to the Troops this Holiday Season, and we Wish them a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
and Go Fred!
