The Corporate Republicans are pulling out all their guns against Huckabee. I wonder why they are that worried? You note they have money on other candidates. Their reaction is probably the best reason to vote for him as he has not taken their money to play.

"Can anyone make the argument to that Republican plurality, 'Okay, nevermind conservative policy choices - he’s not the good Christian leader you think he is'?"--Jim Geraghty

I'd be more than happy to make that argument on the basis of his improper (biblically speaking) views of authority and government. In fact, I have made that argument in personal conversations, many times.

"As I suggested below, I guess Huckabee really isn't all that bright."--Dan Rhiel

Yep. Crafty, manipulative, typical of a certain (low) class of Southern Baptist preacher boys (I speak from personal experience of more than a half a century as a Southern Baptist), which is to say, just smart enough to be stupid enough to believe their "annointing" gives them special privilege and special authority to impose their opinions as The Only Right Way.

"Invoking Jesus as a reason to not discuss one's political record while running for office seems to me to be borderline blasphemous, a rather presumptuous inversion of who, precisely, is supposed to be in the service of Whom."--Ace

Precisely. For one who claims to "not be religious" Ace has a better grasp of that particular New Testament theology than many who have been to "cemetary" (seminary). Claiming that one's own views, positions and opinions are God's, absent clear biblical prescriptives, is both typical of prideful religious folk and... blasphemous. And doing so runs the danger of ascribing evil to God, when one's views include coercing others to conform to ones opinions, as Huckabee's record clearly indicates he believes.

And for those who assert that the initial slip attacking Rush Limbaugh (heck, I've "attacked" Rush Limbaugh as a shallow blowhard for years--and Limbaugh hasn't seemed to notice :-)) was not from anyone with any authoritative position in the Huckabee campaign, so? That's exactly what I've come to expect from his sort of person: attack via remote-controlled drones. That doesn't prove it was approved by Huckleberry or his aides, but I just don't care. He's fatally flawed as a candidate, anyway. Electing him to any office higher than dogcatcher is something the Arkansas electorate should be villified for, IMO, as well as Huckabee and his associates.

This is all very interesting, but it isn't a Huckablunder. Huckabee didn't attack Rush, and I'm not even convinced it was one of his supporters. This is so stupid.

Whoever this anonymous "Huckabee ally" was who spouted the lib talking points against Rush sure got a lot of mileage out of this. He wasn't on the Huckabee campaign -- Marc Ambinder has admitted that much.

This really smells like a dirty trick by another candidate or someone who just hates Huck. I mean think about it: what could be gained by attacking Rush? Nothing.

It sure was a nice slimy Christmas present for Huckabee.

Huckablunder? More like Huckablender.

Huk will fail before all is over, but if he draws off the conservative vote from Fred in the Iowa primary, he will take away our best shot at winning the whitehouse in 08.

You can help Fred now - when it counts the most - simply by making a few calls. We have to get the work out in Iowa. The Fred08 website has phone scripts and numbers to call. This is the time to make a difference.
