Free speech takes another hit in Canada

Posted on December 11, 2007

We read:

“Free speech in Alberta has suffered a serious, and unexpected reversal, in the guilty judgment handed down by an Alberta Human Rights Panel on Stephen Boissoin.

His critique of homosexuality in letters published by the Red Deer Advocate had been the subject of a human rights complaint and was declared “hate speech” by panelist, Lori G. Andreachuk.

It is a bad situation. Fortunately, there appear to be avenues of appeal to restore free-speech sanity to Alberta…..

Boissoin, a youth pastor, was outraged when the Alberta government agreed to an Alberta Human Rights Commission invitation to fund gay-themed textbooks in schools. These were to teach homosexuality was “normal, necessary, acceptable and productive.”

It was just recently discovered that pedophilia might be genetic. How long until they begin fighting for protected status and the rest of us get accused of hate speech in regards to them?

Let me get this straight. If I was in Canada, and called someone a ‘light in the loafers moron’, I could go to jail?

Personally, I’m all for doing away with free speech.
So long as the censors are on my side.

Rather than censoring speech against homosexual acts, for example,
there ought to be someone censoring homosexual pornography.

It’s really offensive to compare homosexuality with pedophilia. I think that what the Alberta HRC did is ridiculous. Although I might not have agreed with what that man had to say, he has every right as a human being to say it. However, when you compare homosexuality with the terrible, awful, repugnant act of pedophilia, you make us all look like wing nut idiots. The left just eats it up. If we want to change this country for the better, thinking before speaking should definitely be at the top of everyone’s agenda. Just because you can say anything you want doesn’t mean you should.
