The whole idea is to make sure the people we put in prison DID SOMETHING WRONG. Just because someone is accused of a crime doesn't mean he committed one. And that person is no more likely to be guilty just because the crime he is accused of is especially awful. Would you be OK with a foreign army coming to the U.S., declaring you an enemy combatant, and then shipping you off to prison with no recourse? Oh, and while you are in prison, I guess it would be OK for the foreign army to torture you too.
