Anti-Christmas Retailer Showing Their True Stripes
Posted on November 29, 2007
Here we go again! Another retailer forgetting what season is the busiest in the retail industry. Another retailer who needs to feel the pinch of a boycott.
It seems Kohl’s is joining Target in the quest of being the most anti-Christian and anti-Christmas retailers in the union. First Target won’t allow Salvation Army bell ringers at their entrances and now Kohl’s is backpeddeling on a promise made last year to include more references to Christmas in its advertising.
From the American Family Association via email:
Kohl’s is taking a misleading, in-your-face attitude when it comes to Christmas.
Last year, thousands of individuals asked Kohl’s to include Christmas in their in-store promotions and media advertising. The company promised they would. However, in researching their in-store promotions and advertising this year, the company has ignored that promise.
Under their online FAQ section, Kohl’s says Christmas “will be featured in print, TV, and radio throughout the season.” This is misleading. When AFA contacted Kohl’s we were told only that the word Christmas will be featured “in 6 of our flyers between mid-November and New Year’s Day.” They made no mention of using Christmas in radio or TV spots or in-store promotions, as they had promised. This is misleading.
Following their usual pattern, Kohl’s will distribute 18 flyers during that time period. That means they will use Christmas in only one-third of their flyers. To date, Kohl’s has distributed four of the flyers with 62 uses of “holiday” and ZERO uses of “Christmas.” Kohl’s has misled the public.
Under a hard to find “Christmas promotions” category on their Web site, Kohl’s doesn’t include a single use of Christmas. Why would Kohl’s ban Christmas? The obvious answer is they don’t want to offend non-Christians.
With the exception of a handful of trinkets associated with Christmas by their manufacturer, Kohl’s has misled the public and effectively banned Christmas.
At the time this is being mailed, Christmas is not mentioned on Kohl’s home page. We expect the company will put the word Christmas on their home page as soon as they begin hearing from you. Then they can point you to their home page to prove they are not banning Christmas. Should they do that, it will again be misleading.
I’m not a very big Kohl’s fan to begin with. But all those of faith should send them a message that they cannot exclude us from our own holiday if they wish to profit from it. DO NOT SHOP AT KOHL’S.

And if Target will not allow the Salvation Army to collect on their properties, I’d suggest you do what we do here in the Gribbit household. We DO NOT SHOP AT TARGET.
Retailers Beware!
Show any bias against Christians or attempt to pacify non-Christians in attempt to profit from them during our holiday season, and you too may feel the wrath of the 85% of the American population who consider themselves Christian.
Note:
This Sunday begins the first week of Advent. I will be posting a nativity photo in my sidebar (at Gribbit’s Word) at that time. If you have a blog I’d suggest doing the same to show those who wish to remove Christmas from the public sphere, we aren’t going to take it. Also, it is time to gear up the ‘Send Christmas Cards to the ACLU’ campaign. I’ll have mailing info starting next week.

I’m not sure it is a major retailer’s job to tell anyone ‘merry christmas’ or use the phrase it in their advertising. Frankly, mixing capitalism and commercialism with Christianity is something all Christians should be against. And as far as ‘excluding us from our own holiday ‘ goes i can’t remember what part discount retailers played in the birth of Jesus Christ. If you really want to make it ‘our … holiday’ try showing others what it is really about and stop trying to force companies to do it for you.
You are an idiot. Go play at the Daily POS where you belong.
And by the way, who said you have a voice here anyway? You didn’t include a link to YOUR website did you? Shut up and go away.
Your wish is my command you moron. Who else do you think I was referring to. You aren’t the brightest bulb in the box are you koolaid, mjs, or whatever you want to call yourself next. We can play these games all day but soon I’m going to get irritated enough at you to just do a little banning. Want to play?
comment once again edited by Gribbit. No link no voice moron.
Liberals be warned. While some here are patient in hopes you will learn, Gribbit has no hope for you. His threads are under his rules. If he doesn’t like what you have to say he may just delete you. Just a friendly warning. Gribbit has no tolerence for idiots.
Koolaid should just give up right now.

Is it me or did this person’s name get changed? Anyway, if you want to debate your thoughts, you should probably test out a different author. As I said before, Gribbit is my snarky author and doesn’t have a lot of patience with debating.
I am so sorry of this PC bullcrap
I am a Jew and encourage stores to say Merry Christmas

Thank You Sammy. And as a Christian I find it very easy to wish my Jewish friends and the Jewish Community at large Happy Hannukah. I think there is room for all but we shouldn’t exclude.
You thought wrong.
You cannot have debate if you remain anonymous. Not brave enough to put your name on your words? Or a website where we can return the favor? Then you will not have a voice here.
Now do yourself a favor and go away like you promised. OH I forgot, you are a social lib which tells me that you are a real lib. In other words you can’t stay away and you can’t do what you promise.

I noticed the other day that the Dillard’s ad had Christmas on every page. It was nice to see.
Although my family and I are not religious, it is the “reason for the season” and we love it all.
