ACLU Wants to Stop Coach’s Annual Team Trip to Local Church
Clemson’s head football coach Tommy Bowden has put together a voluntary anual trip to a local church for his team. Anyone that doesn’t feel like going doesn’t have to go.
The ACLU filed a complaint with the university on Aug. 31. The complaint refers to comments Bowden made in The Greenville News in May in which the coach describes how he annually holds a “church day” for everyone on the roster and how one player’s mother asked her son to be excused from the trip.
Bowden, who frequently refers to his Christian faith publicly, said in The News that the player’s absence was “OK” and that “theres no intent to make anyone feel uncomfortable or awkward.”
Caesar said that Bowden “has abused his authority as Clemson University’s head football coach by imposing his strong personal religious beliefs upon student-athletes under his charge” and that the coach has created a situation wherein a player must “opt-out” of something that is being billed as voluntary, bringing undue attention to that player’s “apostasy.”
There were no complaints from any students. The trip was completely voluntary. The only thing coming close to a controversial move is that public buses were used this year. The school has already put a stop to that before the ACLU even complained. However, the ACLU in its infinite wisdom think they are somehow protecting the Constitution and the honor of the liberal god of diversity. They try to pull out the hypothetical Muslim coach taking players to a Mosque as if this would change people’s perspective by preying on their imaginary bigotry. Of course the ACLU would probably encourage that situation as virtuous diversity training. To act as if this is some kind of violation to the Constitution is predictable from the ACLU. They think that a coach bowing his head is somehow Congress making a law establishing religion. As usual, the ACLU are idiotic bullies. Hopefully this school stands up to them.

This isn’t about civil liberties or the constitution. This is about the American Communist Loyalists Union desire to deny this nations religious ties and their desires to completely remove any vestiages of religion in American life. Did anyone at the ACLU ever consider that this complaint infringes on a group of young mens rights to be religious? I’ll bet not because if you don’t think like these communists do then you’re closed-minded and intolerant. This political correctness garbage has got to stop!
During this Thanksgiving season I thank the ACLU for all their attacks on Christianity.
Through their attacks, Christians are starting to stand up for what they believe. If the
ACLU would leave Christians alone then Christians would become slothful. Persecution is
always the best thing for the Church. When people get serious about God and their beliefs
then revival will take place. These attacks cause Christians to pray more and come together
in unity. So to the ACLU I say you are ridiculous and blind, however I thank you for attacking
Christians and getting our attention. Now we can turn to our God and let Him take vengence
for us. Because of these attacks I have heard more people talk about our faith than ever
before. Praise God that Christians are taking notice. Again thanks for helping bring revival to the Lord’s Church.

In other words Caesar lied since “imposed” means forced and Bowden obviously did not force his charges to do anything. Case dismissed for lack of standing.
