ISLAMABAD: Taliban militants have threatened to blow up the clinic of a doctor in the Pakistani city of Peshawar if he does not slash his fees.

The doctor, who was threatened on phone, told the Statesman newspaper: â€œThe man politely asked me on phone to reduce the check-up fee, otherwise they (the militants) would have no option but to blow up my clinic.â€

â€œHe (the caller) told me that the Taliban movement had reached Mardan and they would soon be knocking at the door of the provincial metropolis where everything would be put in proper order as per the teachings of Islam.â€

Other specialist doctors, whose fees are also high, said they had not been approached by any one as yet.
