All is not lost in Australia
Yes. Australia now has a new Leftist government. But it is probably the world’s most conservative Leftist government. Well to the Right of Tony Blair.
One needs to look at HOW Rudd got in: By saying “Me too” to 95% of the policies of the outgoing conservative government.
Promising and doing are very different of course but a substantial failure to keep promises would condemn the new government to only one 3-year term in office and I am sure Rudd has ambitions well beyond that.

One Response to “All is not lost in Australia”

Wrong!!! He is not to the right of Tony Blair.
He is to the left of Blair. His support for the
war on terror is tepid at best. He will pull out
combat troops from Iraqas soon as he takes office.
He will sign the flawed Kyoto Accords. Maybe the
¨me too¨ referred to in the article are domestic
policies.
