PaulTN: You said

"God is bigger than the Westboro Baptist folks and he chose to put that little girl there to be raised by her parents not by the state or any of you nice folks here at STACLU. Barring absolute repetitive physical abuse that is the end of story."

Wait a minute! If God puts child into a physically abusive home then it is OK to override God's decision?

Maybe physical abuse (which causes bruses and broken bones that eventualy heal) is worse than emotional and mental abuse (which seldom ever heals). Is that what you mean?

BTW, be careful with that argument of yours: "If God gave the child to them then He intended for them to make decisions about how they are raised." Such an argument can be used by the Pro-Choice folks to say: "If God gave the child to me then He intended for me to make decisions about how the child is raised, or IF it is to be raised AT ALL!"

God gave you a brain ... USE IT!

This is a convenient case because Fred Phelps and his followers are despicable. But today the government decides against them; next month, it's home schoolers; next year, it's anyone who refuses to let their kids be vaccinated or subjected to mental health screening or smokes in a car with their kids.

This is a bad precedent.

Phelps Clan Member Arrested

Shirley Phelps-Roper has been arrested for mutilation, negligent child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and disturbing the peace.Child abuse? But why she asks? 2 words; Repetitive programming.

"Despite whatever the right answer is, I still believe this is brainwashing cult, and it breaks my heart to see these little kids growing up in a culture of hate like this." Jay

It may well be a brain washing cult but I feel a lot better about private brainwashing than the public brainwashing the government does. It is hoped that later in life that "good" people can appeal to the child's better nature and God will soften he heart. It has happened many times before.

I haven't seen anyone get to the real point of this issue yet. The issue at hand is, once again, one the ACLU trumpets all day long. Who has control over someone else’s children. The ACLU and the rest of the anti-God crowd thinks the state should have that power. They believe that if there is an emotional plea that can make everyone feel sad for a little child then they can make stealing the child from their parents moral or right.

This video is a bunch of emotional blah. If teaching children by repetition is wrong then every parent who ever catechized their children with their religious teachings is wrong. You might not agree with Catholics, or with Episcopalians or other denominations who teach catechisms to their children, but the real question is who should the children believe?

If God gave my children to me then they should be taught my beliefs; not yours, the states, or anyone else’s beliefs. By the way, God is bigger than the westboro Baptist folks and he chose to put that little girl there to be raised by her parents not by the state or any of you nice folks here at STACLU. As good as you all are, you’re not her parents. Barring absolute repetitive physical abuse that is the end of story.... unless you want to post some mussy liberal video to make everyone feel all emotional about her plight.

The saddest reality of all people (Jay I'm sure realizes this) is the fact that what this little girl is being exposed to by this cult is the extreme form of brainwashing that your children go through in public schools. Look at the globull wormining crap.

Not to detract from the importance of the message in this video, but facts are facts.

Westboro is no different from the Wackos in Waco, Jonestown, or the Mansons. They are a bunch of non-thinking brainwashed morons who have been preached to from birth a message of hate that cannot be reversed. And this little girl is nothing more than this family based cult's future.

Bright side: The gene pool will eventually run out of water.

These people serve a purpose too. They show us how bad religion can get when it's used to bolster select causes instead of using it to bring people together under God's love. There is no love there. Only hatred for what is perceived as a threat. Let them go on wrecking these lives and in doing so they will continue to be a barometer as to What Not To Do.

The beginning of this piece sounded like liberal propaganda. A conservative would believe that parents have the right to teach their children whatever they want. Should we sent her to government schools so she can be indoctrinated into the liberal agenda instead.
