Philly punishes Scouts over ‘gay’ issue
Posted on October 20, 2007
It really is an assault on a private organization that practices a true freedom to admit whom they want and exclude those deemed not to meet their moral standards. So, should it be acceptable for them to be discriminated against because they are not politically correct? The question isn’t really about the rent money here, but the turn society is making. The debate is on what is more immoral to society…sodomy or discrimination based on morals.
“When it comes to a Scout troop, sexual orientation is an issue that goes beyond differences in skin color or economic status. It affects such matters as tenting arrangements and the development of pre-teenage masculinity in a close-knit group of boys and men,” he wrote.
“The BSA’s position against homosexuality is not just an issue of moral principle in an effort to affirm the Scout Oath and Law, it is a serious safety effort to prevent cases of sexual abuse and harassment,” he wrote.
“So here’s what I say to the radical Left in the city where the Declaration of Independence was signed … Take away the funding. Seize the 75-year-old headquarters building. The Scouts can survive without it,” he wrote at the time.
WND also reported earlier this year a Scouts victory when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit dismissed a lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union to stop the Defense Department from allowing the Scouts to hold its National Jamboree every four years at Fort A.P. Hill in Fredericksburg, Va.
The ACLU, suing on behalf of individual named taxpayers, had argued allowing the Boy Scouts to hold the event on public property is an unconstitutional establishment of religion, because the organization’s membership is limited to those who believe in God.
The ACLU points out the Boy Scouts require members to swear an oath to “do my duty to God and my country.”
The court ruled the ACLU did not show standing to bring the lawsuit.

Maybe somewhere in this once great city someone will come to the rescue of the great BS’s and give them free rent.
In the past the Boy Scouts have unwittingly had homosexual leaders. Note that homosexual men are attracted to those of their own gender and to many the age of their ‘lover’ is not the issue. Some might say that heterosexual men are more likely to molest young boys. Think again lizard lips. Check out the definition of homosexual. If any man goes for young boys he is both a pedophile and a homosexual. The scouts have had to develop special rules because of sexual predators and they have been found liable in civil litigation. They have to do it their way because of their own rules on being morally straight and the protect the boys they are responsible for.
Muahahahahahaha!
No. Really. Muahahahahahahaha!
If someone wants to give the Boy Scouts free rent, then fine. That is the right of a private individual. But, the city has rules on who it gives money/cheap stuff to, and the Boy Scouts don’t fit those rules.
And as for the gays will rape our kids line. I refer you to the my first comment.
Not providing government subsidies to private groups that don’t play by the rules is assault? Explain.
But the organization’s membership *is* limited to those who believe in God. Why, exactly, should this organization be recieving a $200,000 rent subsidy from a government? No sympathy. They getting what they exactly what they’re entitled to: no subsidy.
Because they are one of the great assets to life and property in the cities and our nation.
Because they contribute hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours to the city, teach valuable life skills, provide experiences for the cultivation of manhood, encourages academic excellence, promotes “duty to God” and moral straightness.
Because in 1928, the city of Philadelphia granted the local Cradle of Liberty Boy Scouts Council property at the corner of 22nd and Winter Streets “in perpetuity.”
Also, Philly has many “public-private partnerships” with non-profit organizations ranging from Kiwanis and Rotary to the Presbyterian Church and the Methodist Church. Philadelphia was the launchpoint for the Amachi Mentoring program, which enlists members of churches and synagogues around the nation as in-school volunteers. Further, around 40 percent of welfare-to-work programs in Philadelphia are based out of churches or other faith-based institutions.
Philly is spending far more than $200,000 in fighting gang crime in their city and any intelligent person would see that it would be more cost effective to foster groups that believe and teach “Trustworthy. Loyal. Helpful. Friendly. Courteous. Kind. Obedient. Cheerful. Thrifty. Brave. Clean. Reverent.”, than to further reduce their options to, sex, burglary & robbery, drive-bys, graffiti, etc.
Lastly, The United States Supreme Court has held that the freedom of association is an essential part of the Freedom of Speech.
“A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy,” Samuel Adams wrote to James Warren in 1779. “While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader.”
This country is going to crumble from within. Lets chip away anything good, lets call right wrong. BSA is being shot at because they have standards of morality. I have two family members who are living a gay lifestyle. I love them, but I do not agree with there choices. Who pays the taxes the city uses. Its about time for a tea party in this country!!!
