At least a good majority of his supporters do come off as a little off their rockers. They speak the loudest, and the truthers are in full force behind this candidate.

Yeah, but that’s just because of his low visibility so far. Most of his current supporters are “early adopters” who have actively sought a man like Paul. According to Forbes, currently only 11% of the country is “aware” of Ron Paul’s candidacy, so he is only beginning to enter the mainstream. As he picks up more mainstream voters, the less savory supporters will become proportionally less significant, like any other campaign.

He has enough money and support that he will hang around long enough to raise that awareness above 70%. If he does that and his numbers stay in the low single digits, then you’re right that we’re simply an ignorable fringe.

But don’t be surprised if you see respectable double digits before Super Tuesday.

Out of more than 30,000 contributors, I’m sure you can find many
eccentric responses to the “employer” question. It stands to
reason that you would also find eccentric responses among the
contributors to any of the other candidates, as well. A lot
of people don’t like disclosing personal information, period.
This doesn’t reflect on Paul as much as it reflects on people’s
distaste for stupid election law requirements.

I think the only insanity being expressed is by those who stupidly discount Ron Paul and his supporters as some abberation. The pissed off, silent majority is finally speaking up!
