Instant Classic: List of Ron Paul Donors…
Posted on October 18, 2007
Confirms what we’ve already known, his supporters are insane….
Paul’s third-quarter financial disclosure report is sprinkled with supporters whose self-descriptions of their occupations are unusual, to say the least. Wade Talkington of Panama City, Fla., who donated $1,000 to Paul, lists his occupation as “tax slave to the Federal Govt.†Erik Hovden of Olalla, Wash., is the “Head slacker in Chg†at Simpson LLC, and housewife Pamela Schuberg of Moorpark, Calif., a $2,300 donor, lists her employer as “our children.â€
Donald Cowles lists himself as self-employed and his occupation as simply “Capitalist.†On the opposite end, David Cameron of San Jose, Calif., lists his employer as “Looking for Work†and his job as “Unemployed.†Still, Cameron has given a total of $1,900 to the campaign.
Griswold Draz of Wellfleet, Mass., a $500 donor, is a self-described “curmudgeon,†and Andrew Maul of Pittsburgh, Pa., is a “Citizen Fighting Tyranny.†Others are more coy. James Harper of Vancouver, Wash., a $600 donor, offered “guess? ;)†as his occupation.
Starchild, a San Francisco-based escort and exotic dancer who ended up on Paul’s list as “Star Child,†contributed $300.

“His supporters are insane.”
Well, at least they don’t want to torture people or engage in restroom sex, like typical neocon Republicans.
Sounds like a good cross section of Americans to me!
I think the only insanity being expressed is by those who stupidly discount Ron Paul and his supporters as some abberation. The pissed off, silent majority is finally speaking up!
Out of more than 30,000 contributors, I’m sure you can find many
eccentric responses to the “employer” question. It stands to
reason that you would also find eccentric responses among the
contributors to any of the other candidates, as well. A lot
of people don’t like disclosing personal information, period.
This doesn’t reflect on Paul as much as it reflects on people’s
distaste for stupid election law requirements.
I love the Tax Slave one! That was great. I should have put anti-Neocon on my donation
Well, I once answered “Sex = Not in this century.” on a form, I don’t think that makes me insane, just sarcastic…
Perhaps many in this group are concerned about privacy. Me, too.
Learn why we are all Tax Slaves.
At least a good majority of his supporters do come off as a little off their rockers. They speak the loudest, and the truthers are in full force behind this candidate.
Yeah, but that’s just because of his low visibility so far. Most of his current supporters are “early adopters” who have actively sought a man like Paul. According to Forbes, currently only 11% of the country is “aware” of Ron Paul’s candidacy, so he is only beginning to enter the mainstream. As he picks up more mainstream voters, the less savory supporters will become proportionally less significant, like any other campaign.
He has enough money and support that he will hang around long enough to raise that awareness above 70%. If he does that and his numbers stay in the low single digits, then you’re right that we’re simply an ignorable fringe.
But don’t be surprised if you see respectable double digits before Super Tuesday.
You definitely drew out the NutRoots with this one
