ACLU Stays Execution Against Prisoner’s Wishes
Via Sobek who says it all short and sweet.
William Castillo, who beat an elderly woman to death with a tire iron and who has refused to file any appeal or petition after his conviction — and who has said he is ready to die — got his execution stayed.
Not because he filed a petition, mind you. Because the ACLU filed a petition, saying Nevada should wait until the Supreme Court hears arguments on the constitutionality of lethal injection. Castillo said he was disappointed when he learned of the stay.
Maybe he can get the ACLU to fight for his right to assisted suicide now. I heard they think that is a Constitutional right and true freedom.
The ACLU won’t speak up for the unborn nor the comatose. But if you’ve beaten an old lady to death with a tire tool, their voice is deafening. “All-Death, All-the-time”, ceases to be their slogan when it comes to the capital punishment of convicted killers.
