These treaties interfere with states jurisdiction such as in the question of foreign citizens who have committed capital crimes in the U.S. The Seventeenth Amendment removed the state check on the election of Senators that was meant to prevent such an event from occurring. We have paid and will continue to pay for that error in judgment. The U.S. has made some bad treaties whose constitutionality is questionable at best.
