Thompson Set To Announce Next Week In Nashville?

Posted on June 24, 2007

Hat tip: Ian

This is unconfirmed, but seems to have some validity. Not sure if it is exclusive as WSMV-TV states or rumor…but hopefully its true.

Fred Thompson is set to announce that Nashville will be the home of his national campaign headquarters, WSMV is reporting.

A source close to the campaign planning tells WSMV that that Thompson planned to announce his candidacy on the steps of the historic Fall School Building Tuesday, but Thompson campaign officials deny that Tuesday’s announcement is an official run for the White House.

The source tells WSMV report says that the Thompson campaign has obtained the lease for that building to turn it into a national campaign office.

While Thompson’s officials deny an announcement for an official run they say they “might” announce where their HQ will be. As the reporter says…”whatever”. Sounds promising to me.

Thompson Auditioning For Role of GOP Savior?

Many GOP conservatives, desperate for a candidate they can call their own, have decided that Thompson, a native Tennessean, is “a southern-fried version of Ronald Reagan.” We all know the legend of the Great Communicator, and conservatives know that the camera loves Thompson as well. But more important, they have convinced themselves he is the natural heir to the Reagan agenda.

BLOGGER-IN-CHIEF?

If Republican Fred Thompson enters the presidential race next month as expected, the actor and former senator will be aiming to add another title to a crowded resume — blogger-in-chief.

Thompson has been contributing frequently to conservative Web sites as he gears up for a 2008 presidential bid, posting thoughts on topics ranging from the French election to the Middle East and the immigration debate.

While the Internet and blogs are a basic cornerstone of any modern campaign communications strategy, Thompson has been notably enthusiastic about expressing his thoughts online.
