Gore Gets Smacked Down By Texas Congressman

Congressman Barton of Texas, ranking member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, took former VP Chicken Little to the mat over his latest recommendations for stemming the tide of global warming. Congressman Barton told the former VP, “You just gave us an idea for a straight CO2 freeze, if I heard you correctly. I think that’s an idea that’s flawed. If you take that literally, we can add no new industry, nor new cars and trucks on our streets, and apparently no new people.”
When I read this, I was laughing my arse off!
Chicken Little is one of these people who have a compulsion to artificially inflate the danger of anything and everything. It is almost a pathological compulsion at that. Like his former boss, Slick Willy, he cannot help himself. He latches onto a topic like global warming an if the data supports the danger of sea level rises in the 23 inch range, he inflates that to “over 20 feet”.
Mr. Gore, there is an enormous difference between an inch and a foot.

Ah, now–let’s make sure we acknowledge that the operative phrase
in the above quote is “if I heard you correctly.” Opponents of
global warming rarely do.
Either you’re purposely ignoring reality, or terrifyingly ignorant and so is that congressman you’re so proud of. Reducing the existing emissions of any component of industry or vehicles leaves room for the creation of new industry or vehicles. Namely, one old and inefficient factory being shut down or retrofitted to produce half the CO2 leaves room for multiple new factories to be opened.
This isn’t complicated. If this congressman’s statement/question casts light on anything it’s either childlike ignorance or the ability to lie without batting an eye.
Former Vice President Al Gore refused to take a “Personal Energy Ethics Pledge†today to consume no more energy than the average American household. The pledge was presented to Gore by Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, during today’s global warming hearing.
Senator Inhofe showed Gore a film frame from “An Inconvenient Truth†where it asks viewers: “Are you ready to change the way you live?â€
Gore has been criticized for excessive home energy usage at his residence in Tennessee. His electricity usage is reportedly 20 times higher than the average American household.
“There are hundreds of thousands of people who adore you and would follow your example by reducing their energy usage if you did. Don’t give us the run-around on carbon offsets or the gimmicks the wealthy do,†Senator Inhofe told Gore.
“Are you willing to make a commitment here today by taking this pledge to consume no more energy for use in your residence than the average American household by one year from today?†Senator Inhofe asked.
Senator Inhofe then presented Vice President Gore with the following “Personal Energy Ethics Pledge:
Cl As a believer: · that human-caused global warming is a moral, ethical, and spiritual issue affecting our survival;
· that home energy use is a key component of overall energy use;
· that reducing my fossil fuel-based home energy usage will lead to lower greenhouse gas emissions; and
· that leaders on moral issues should lead by example;
I pledge to consume no more energy for use in my residence than the average American household by March 21, 2008.â€
Gore refused to take the pledge.
Of course he did! All hat and no cattle!
No jimmy, you are the ignorant one if you believe that bilge water they’re feeding you. It must be so apparently in your mind if former VP Chicken Little says so.
The evidence that global warming is a natural occurrence is staggering you moron. Do yourself a favor, learn to read something other than the lefty sites that support that crap. If you need some info, I’ll be happy to point you to some actual studies in this field. Non-partisan studies from actual climatologists not some has-been politician.
The Global Warming situation is political and not scientific. Al Gore is not one to be respected on this issue. He condemns others and wastes so much energy himself it is unbelieveable. He is a typical rich lefty. In his mind he can do no wrong but those on the right do nothing correctly.
Do you guys remember the first Bush administration? Their alternative to Kyoto was a system of carbon emissions trading. It was a market based solution, the government capped the total amount of carbon dioxide that could be produced in a year, and businesses that were less polluting could make a profit selling their unspent emissions to polluters who couldn’t afford to modernize their plants. They modeled it on the Clean Air Act of 1990, which used pollution credits to reduce acid rain. In other words, it’s a successful model. Bush I proved it.
Gore’s plan for a carbon freeze is no different from Bush I’s carbon emissions trading plan. But Gore, unlike Bush I or II, has put his MONEY where his mouth is, he buys carbon offsets to zero out every atom of CO2 that he produces. So for every jet ride and car ride he takes, for every kilowatt he consumes, he has funded an offsetting windmill.
You are all hypocrites, ignorant ones at that, who cannot recognize that Gore is simply recycling (good environmentalist that he is) a proven REPUBLICAN market-based strategy.
