Fox News: Lawsuit Claims School Prevented Boy From Wearing Jesus Costume for Halloween
PHILADELPHIA — A Christian legal group has sued a school district on behalf of a 10-year-old boy who claims his rights to religion and free speech were violated when he was not allowed to wear a Jesus costume during Halloween activities.
The complaint, filed in federal court Tuesday by the Alliance Defense Fund, says officials at Willow Hill Elementary School in suburban Glenside told the boy Oct. 31 that he could not wear his faux crown of thorns or tell others he was dressed as Jesus.
The principal, Patricia Whitmire, told the boy’s mother that the costume violated a policy prohibiting the promotion of religion, according to the lawsuit. Whitmire suggested that the fourth-grader, whose costume included a robe, identify himself as a Roman emperor, the suit states.
Though the boy’s costume was rejected because of its religious nature, the principal allowed other students to dress up as witches and devils, according to the lawsuit, which identified the boy only by his initials.
Outrageous. Think it was an accident that the principal suggested he be a Roman instead of Jesus? Not only did this dimwit principal crush the rights of this child, she also used her power to jab an extra spear in his side. Surprised she didn’t give him a stuffed lion to carry around to give him the real Roman mojo.
The school’s stuttering explanation? How much you wanna bet that they roll out “separation of church and state.” Or deny the whole episode.
Thanks ACLU for creating an environment in which school administrators are either so deeply confused about what the US Constitution requires or feel emboldened enough in their hostility to make an outrageous move like this.
One may say, “The ACLU is not involved in this and if they were, they’d be on the student’s side.” That may be accurate, but the ACLU cannot escape the fact that its fingerpirnts are on every case like this. The ACLU has spent nearly a century promoting its twisted separationist doctrine and have been wildly successful in imposing intimidation and ignorance on generations of Americans. So no matter if it is directly involved, the ACLU bears responsibility.

If religion is the qualifying tool or, in this case the disqualifier, what about the state’s brand of religious expression? How about the Great Church of Darwin’s Theory on Evolution, the Great Church of the Environment, then of course there is the Great Church of No Belief which some folks call the Church of Atheism. It’s perfectly fine for the state schools to identify certain individual beliefs as inferior or even in conflict with state run churches. Those which might delay the destruction of individual belief in God or worse, those which might encourage other subjects of the state to contemplate the existence of God, Jesus Christ or any religion which gives credence to the idea that individuals are responsible for their actions rather than “it takes a village†must be disqualified.
Hi, this is God. You guys don’t have a clue. And by the way, I’m gay.
What’s even more ironic is that in ancient Rome, emperors were worshiped as gods.
TF- those religions don’t require accountability, so they’re just fine with the ACLU and other leftists.
Mirthrah- you’re in for a rude awakening. might want to start practicing gnashing your teeth now.
Satanism is recognised as a religion!
Witchcraft (Wicca) is recognised as a religion!
How blatantly anti_christian can you get!
You guys are morons. If the ACLU had been involved with this, they would be taking the kid’s side, defending his right to wear the costume.
Ok, I guess my first question is, does this person claim to be a Christian? If so, then
it could be argued she had no business celebrating a pagan holiday at worst, and a Catholic “look the other way” at best.
This one is thin ice in my opinion depending on the claimed beliefs of the person suing. I guess if they are an atheist,
then this would actually make some sense. If they claim to be an follower of Christ, then I would assume their intent was
not “trick or treat”, but trying to witness to all of the real Hollow Weaners.

Mark–
Did you even read the last three paragraphs of the post you are vomiting about? Your seething was already answered.
Yeah, answered by someone who has no idea what he is talking about.
I mean, this idiot practically admits that his whole article makes no sense. What is he blaming the ACLU for? Educating people that the US is not a Christian nation? I want to know exactly what he thinks the ACLU’s “twisted separationist doctrine” is? What “ignorance” is he accusing them of spreading?
Oh, you’re the idiot in question. Sorry, I didn’t notice.
You just don’t get it, Mark. The ACLU is not only responsible for policies they support, they are responsible for policies they oppose. They are the repository of all that is foul and evil. The ACLU burned my toast this morning. And they kick baby seals.
What a ludicrous post! You admit that the ACLU has nothing to do with this and even that the ACLU would defend the student, yet you still somehow manage to criticize them. Wow, you’re a blind ideologue, aren’t you?
