Amazon defiantly, unexplainably continues to line pockets of a child molester
Posted on February 3, 2007
Please consider not shopping with Amazon until it pulls a book from a proudly self-described “boy-lover” who admits preying regularly on children to slake his Old Sparky-worthy demonic thirst. Thanks to Gawfer and Absolute Zero for uncovering this action-worthy situation.
I won’t link to either Amazon’s listing or this sick freak’s blog, but will provide a short rundown.
Gawfer: Protect children: boycott Amazon
I just received this email from the author of Absolute Zero, which is a Weblog dedicated to stopping child abuse.
Amazon is printing and distributing material that promotes and advocates the abuse and molestation of children. They have been informed of the contents of this book and claim it is a freedom of speech issue. AbsoluteZeroUnited is hereby sponsoring a boycott on Amazon, and we ask that you help us inform all your friends about this problem. I personally will never spend another penny in that store until they remove that book. Viamund the Boylove Vampyre Says…: Poetry & Haiku’s by Octaevius Altair Written by an admitted child molester, Octaevius AKA Viamund the Rake is under notice.
AbsoluteZero provides a rundown of this criminal’s MO: He’s a Rake
Again, I won’t link to freako’s blog, but I will provide a sample of how describes himself:
I am ” OUT ” as a same-gender oriented paedophile/ephebephile (Boylover) & it is this state that enables me to live a fulfilled & contented life. To embrace, accept & feel pride in our sexuality is something that we as BL’s must do before we can hope to be accepted in return. I encourage all BL’s to realize there is no SHAME in being what you are. Sexuality is NOT just the line between homophile & heterophile with all other divisions being degraded to the category of FETISH. There is more than just GAY, STRAIGHT, BI. There is the other line of INFANTOPHILE/NEPIOPHILE – attraction to infants & toddlers – PAEDOPHILE – attraction to pre-pubertal others – EPHEBEPHILE – attraction to pubertal others – ANDROPHILE – attraction to those such as yourself – GERONTOPHILE – attraction to those much older than yourself ( seniors generally ). Feel free to look at my book here VtBLv I am a member of the North American Man/Boy Love association. JOIN NAMBLA NOW!
Gawfer received this reponse from Amazon after requesting that it remove the item:
Thank you for writing to Amazon.com.As a retailer, our goal is to provide customers with the broadest selection possible so they can find, discover, and buy any item they might be seeking. That selection includes some items which many people may find objectionable. Therefore, the items offered on our web site represent a wide spectrum of opinions on a variety of topics Amazon.com believes it is censorship not to display certain articles because we believe their message is objectionable.
This is not about censorship, morons. A private company may choose to decline to sell anything. If the government swooped in and attempted to prevent the sale of an otherwise lawful product, that is censorship.
Child molestation, by any measure, is a crime outdistanced in barbarity only by such things as premeditated murder and cannibalism. Promoting child rape (yes, that is exactly what is happening, especially since Amazon is aware of the book’s content and the author’s “lifestyle”), and making money for itself and the child rapist in the process, has nothing to do with “free speech” but with a twisted view of what is required in the marketplace of ideas in a healthy republic. This isn’t a noble stand Amazon. Do the right thing.

You know, I feel your pain, but I have to side with Amazon.
If the book is legal to sell, I am not sure a bookstore should be penalized for selling it. Same thing with any conservative book. I don’t want amazon to pull any book that comes to the conclusion that homosexual marriages should be legal because the book is “offensive.”
Disclosure: I do have an amazon.com prime membership(free 2-day shipping).
By the way, I meant should not be legal in my previous post…
Now your comment on Gawfer makes sense Stephen. Here’s my take on it: Anything that supports or otherwise encourages nefarious behavior towards children should, by all accounts be against the law.
Freedom of speech does not include child pornography, and yes, children do have access to their parent’s credit cards. I say children because a very large percentage of the individuals identified as peadophiles by Absolute Zero are young teens venturing into the realm of perversion.
I’d suggest, before you start expressing your liberal opinions without substance, you head over to AZ and review some of their previous posts and comments by the said peadophiles. You’ve posted some bible verses on your blog, so I’m guessing you have some sort of relationship with the Lord. Check it out.
Of course it is.
From Webster:
Yes, it is perfectly legal for private companies to self-censor. Apparently, they have a policy that prohibits it and they’re going to stick to that.
Go ahead and hate them for selling the book, but their response was perfectly valid.
He left out “DEADOPHILE – attraction to satin lined boxes and deep, dark, earthy holes.
From Webster:
That’s my assessment of anyone who would support this garbage and/or those who would profit from it.
Just because some perverted organization found a way to make it legal, doesn’t make it right.
I’ve only done a cursory check and found this…
In some countries, e.g. Australia and Canada, textual material describing sexual activities involving children is legally classified as child pornography while in other countries, for example the United Kingdom, it is not prohibited in itself, but is caught under general laws controlling indecency and obscenity. In yet other countries, most significantly the United States, it is legal; written child pornography is legally protected by the US Constitution as long as it is not judged obscene.
The prohibition against written child pornography can extend even to materials produced by pedophiles for their own personal consumption and not revealed to anyone, such as diaries or journals in which they record their fantasies. Several individuals have been prosecuted for keeping such diaries. Some have argued that this violates their right to freedom of thought, although the vast majority of these convictions are for pedophiles who were released from prison on parole and, therefore, had legal curbs on such freedoms as a condition of parole.
The “rake” is Canadian.
I don’t know whether or not Amazon has any business in Canada, but could make it interesting.
Glib,
I think you got it right, only this would fall under self censorship or the right not to do business with scum.
It isn’t any different than the publishing house that backed away from OJ’s book, even if that took an angry public to force them into making that happen. The public’s outcry does have significant power. I buy regularly from Amazon.com will send them my thoughts on this matter and include a link to this article and its comment section. Thank you.
I posted a copy of my letter to Amazon.com on my blog if you care to read it.
Jeff–
NO ONE is “censoring” this material by refusing to sell it.
You get so caught up in trying to contradict people you lose sight of very easy-to-grasp ideas.
If Amazon or the government were to enter the child-rapist’s home and burn all of his books, that would be “censorship.” Not selling his book is not.
“Same thing with any conservative book.”
Oh come on. As if they are the same thing.
Thanks so much for running this story.
If I may add a few things to your conversation.
Stephen and Jeff: I find your claim of censorship strangely ironic. You see the Rake challenged CafePress for refusing to publish his book and took his complaint to the ACLU. This is the response he got from them:
“Thank you for your e-mail concerning CafePress. Under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the private press has the right to make its own decisions on what it chooses to publish or not to publish. The government, through the courts, cannot force a company to publish material it does not wish to print. We know of no legal theory to force CafePress to publish your book.”
I personally find it hard to imagine that the ACLU would pass up the opportunity to defend a child molester on censorship grounds. The fact that they refused him and recognize it is not a censorship issue speaks volumes. The fact that you do not recognize it also speaks volumes.
loboinok: you are exactly right regarding child porn laws in Commonwealth countries such as Australia and Canada. The US is also moving towards this notion of a “story” being classified as child porn with the indictment of Fisher (see US v Karen Fisher).
In many countries where this book is available through Amazon, it is ILLEGAL…transportation and sale are also illegal.
Stephen and Jeff, you respect Amazon’s right to decide to make this product available. Perhaps you should respect our right to decide what corporate behavior is acceptable to us and who we will buy our books from.
Once again, to the authors of this blog, thanks so much for running this piece. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.
Thanks,
Daydreamer
Books promoting child rape and other crimes ought not be protected by anti-censorship ideals. Just as it’s a crime to tell a hit man to kill your wife, it’s a crime to incite others to criminal action in such a blatant way.
In addition, I find the book’s homophobia offensive. To say that harming young children should be OK if being Gay is OK just leads to the conclusion that Gay people ought not to be allowed to exist.
Why do you think they should refuse to sell it? I’m sure you would agree that the term “objectionable” is a gross understatement. Guess what the definition of “censor” is? (I mistakenly cited “censorship” earlier)
It’s probably fair to assume that this book was added to their inventory through normal channels, so why do you feel it should be removed? Because it’s objectionable. You’ll notice the definition above doesn’t put any limitations on who the censor needs to be. Pulling it from their catalog after it was previously determined to be a marketable product would clearly be an act of self-censorship.
There’s nothing wrong with that. I routinely censor myself in my business and personal lives. This business has chosen not to. They have a policy that says they’re not going to pull a book just because some people don’t like it. So be it.
As I repeated above, I never said it would be illegal censorship. Self-censorship is entirely legal.
Of course. I stated such in the last sentence of comment 6. A boycott would be very understandable.
You’re asking them to self-censor.
That is certainly one form of censorship and we all know it is completely illegal.
Well, jeff, confiscating child porn from the home of a child rapist is completely LEGAL. And all this stuff you have written here is pure pedo-lingo repeated ad nauseum by pedophiles. I, for one, am sick of it.
It sounds very much like the pedo arguments in the debateguide ‘pedologic for dummies book’. You have seen that of course haven’t you?
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Regardless of what we think about the legality or morality of Amazon’s decision, according to the laws here in the US, it is their decision to make.
We get to decide whether or not we will support their decision. We get to choose if we conduct business with them. I have chosen not to support a company that supports a pedophile in his quest to encourage other pedophiles.
I have cancelled my account with Amazon. BTW, it is not easy. They will send back several replies asking you to reconfirm that you REALLY want your account closed and that closing your account with them will also close your accounts with their affiliates (Target.com, NBA.com, CDNow Preferred Buyer’s Club, Bebe.com, and BenefitCosmetics.com)
You have a choice.
I will tell one and all that at one time I would post reviews on Amazon.com. I have stopped this practice because it was a waste of time. I gave 2 negative reviews for the following films, Roger and Me, and Broke Back Mountain. Both Reviews contained no foul language. I re-posted Roger and Me 6 times! Each time it was removed by Amazon.commie as being inappropriate!!!! It became clear to me that most of the Moon Bat stuff sold at Amazon.commie has high grades because they will not allow a negative review of much of this stuff. Has any one else out there had a review shot down by Amazon?
This post does not really fit the topic, but I felt that in a way it did help show what Amazon’s agenda seems to be. Amazon hides behind freedom of speech when it is to their advantage.
Great point, John. I’ve never actually tried to post a review but have heard quite a few people make the same complaint as you.
As you said, this speaks to a much more sinister thing at work here than a mere “policy”….that is an agenda. And it would appear that this agenda is much more complex and far-reaching than I imagined.
What did your review contain?
