HS Physics Teacher/ACLU Demand Right to Spew Anti-Zionist Propaganda to Students

Bloodthirsty, pre-medieval psychopaths strapping explosives to their bodies and seeking out schoolchildren to murder apparently don't count as root causes of conflict.

However, this is not what the teacher wanted and is still threatening to sue, and this is not what the ACLU was willing to defend.

Can you quote or link a citation? I didn't see anything to that effect. My understanding was that the threats were issued prior to the decision to make this a three part series.

What I consider propaganda is when it is biased towards one side of a controversial topic and the other side of the issue is not presented.

I urge you to consider refining your definition. It is very possible to create propoganda that appears honestly address multiple sides. All it takes is a couple well designed strawmen.

It is also very possible to honestly focus on one side of the issue without delving into the realm of propaganda. Unless you accept a definition in which any persuasive essay is considered propaganda.

I guess my point is that I believe a message must contain a strong intent to deceive and manipulate the reader in order to be considered propaganda and the burden of proof rests on the reader.

No doubt, I should have expressed my difference in opinon with the columnist on not being satisfyed with the end result. However, this is not what the teacher wanted and is still threatening to sue, and this is not what the ACLU was willing to defend. I don't have a problem as long as different views are presented...obviously the teacher does. This indicates a preference for a point of view which if presenting without an alternative point I would consider propaganda.

What I consider propaganda is when it is biased towards one side of a controversial topic and the other side of the issue is not presented.

It really isn’t surprising that the ACLU would jump right into the middle of this mess. They have a history of defending anti-Israel/ Pro-Palestian militant groups like the PLO, and have been advocates for anti-American propaganda to be available for our school children.

Of course. No one needs to defend popular speech. We get plenty of that whenever we want it.

Do you really think everything that casts America in a bad light is propaganda? So what if it was written by our enemies. Who else would know?? I'm not saying they have much credibility, but that doesn't mean they're wrong. Even if they are wrong, there's a lot of value in understanding what they believe.

As for the issue at hand, I see that both of your links go to the same editorialist, rather than the source stories. After a little digging, I found the source.

The group will come to Andover High for one in a series of three forums, each featuring a different perspective on Middle East conflicts, Principal Peter Anderson said in a statement released yesterday.

So three sides will be represented. Rabbi Goldstein is unhappy that the sides will be presented separately, but there are understandable reasons for doing so.
