An Arab Failure, Not Bush’s Failure

Posted on December 7, 2006

Many in the Arab World are being critical of President Bush’s dreams for Iraq, citing the ISG Report as some sort of failure by Bush:

Many Arabs on Thursday interpreted an American advisory panel’s bleak assessment of President Bush’s Iraq policies as proof of Washington’s failure in the Middle East.

A question was proposed to our own Ben Franklin on the founding of our Nation:

“Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”

His reply:

“A Republic, if you can keep it.”

The question that was proposed to Ben Franklin has application today to modern day Iraq.

The People of the both the United States and the United Kingdom have given the People of Iraq a Democracy, if they can keep it.

If there is failure, it is an Arab failure! The humiliation is theirs and theirs alone.
