The Forbidden Mojave Desert Cross

I was in Las Vegas at the end of September and called into Jay at his e-radio show on WideAwakesRadio. I mentioned that I was going to go searching in the Mojave Desert to find a small cross that I’d read about that had been ordered removed by a federal judge after the ACLU sued. Jay mentioned that he’d like to see a picture of it, so here it is.
This is not a new case, so I won’t rehash it here. I’ve got more commentary, more pictures, and a two-minute movie for download of my visit to the cross that I think many of you would enjoy at CourtZero. Click here if you want to see the movie, the link is at the bottom of the post.
Thanks to Greg Tinti and KT Cat at the Scratching Post for youtubing this.
Seeing a cross covered in plywood is startling to me. It is celebrated by the ACLU as a victory. To me it…what word can I use to describe this anti-religious display? It offends.

I watched the video and now I’m in tears. God help our nation!
That is so sad.
Nothing like the good old Atheist Communist Litigation Union to come along and ensure that someone’s Constitutional freedom of expression of their religion is summarily taken away.
SOMEONE LOCAL PLEASE PAINT A CROSS ON THAT PLYWOOD!!!
It looks like a billboard. I’m sure they love that.
Bad attempt to be Reaganesque:
Mr. ACLU, tear down this plywood!
I’m sure someone will put the video up on YouTube, but until then I’ll host it for easy viewing. Click here to watch.
I want to thank you all for your response to this. It took all day to find the cross and photograph it, but I am very glad that I did. Could you imagine the Mt. Soledad cross in San Diego covered in a giant shroud? I suppose the judge thought nobody would ever care to see what his order “looks like” in the light of day.
Thanks again.

Plywood? Just a couple years ago, it was covered by a white tarp. I can only assume that the tarp was replaced with plywood because the shadow of the cross (heh, like the song) could be seen through the tarp if the sun was behind it. Can’t have that, now, can we?
