We'll see whether it is a "stawman" or not. As for "worrying" about it, hardly? Even if they did try, they don't have a leg to stand on.

Pelosi said all of that before the election...Again pre-election talk...

She reiterated it yesterday during a press conference aired by C-SPAN. If she has even the slightest control over her party, there will be no impeachment proceedings and they will not cut funding to Iraq.

Go ahead and worry that they may change their position if that's how you want to spend your energy, but at this point, it's nothing more than a strawman.

"I’m tired of this already. Pelosi has said several times, unequivocally, that there will be no impeachment proceedings. The Dems are out to make a name for themselves. They’re no friends of the administration, of course, but it sounds like they aren’t going to waste their time in the past. "

Yeah. Pelosi said all of that before the election. We will now see whether or not that was just talk. Considering the liberals have done nothing since 2000 but call Bush Hitler, and "selected not elected" and have called for "regime change", it's not a big step to take to expect them to turn and resume impeachement proceedings.

"They haven’t fully defined their Iraq policy, but Pelosi also stated unequivocally that they would not cut funding of the war. Seeing as how that’s really their only way of forcing a quick end to the war, it doesn’t sound like “cut and run” will be a part of their policy."

Again pre-election talk. They have had a history before election time of calling for us to bail out. The only reason that they wouldn't make their vision happen would be that a. they really don't have no plan or b. they are afraid to take the responsibility for their actions and are just content to sit on the sidelines and call names and criticize without having to actually do anything.

"Yeah, I’m sure we’ll get some more of those, but we got more of them under a Republican government too. Counter-intuitively, we might actually get fewer with the Dems in charge. The fact that the Dems will push a big government agenda might be just what we need to get the Republicans to at least pay lip service to small government again."

I agree with you that both partys are for bigger government encroachment over our lives but, the Democrats are socialists in nature and their bloated wrongheaded ideas like the Great Society, have caused far more harm to this nation than good. I'd rather cast my vote for the big government Republicans. They come the closest to representing my conservative values.

I stand firm in my assessment that with the Democrats in the majority now, we are in for some trouble. Unless their majority gets thwarted from within by Democrat conservatives or others who won't support the party line. But I doubt that, the liberals are entrenched in the party and have the power. They have hijacked the party and duped too many into accepting their agenda.

Next, look for them to spend every last effort in two things, first of which is to start trial proceedings to try and impeach Bush and his administration of each and every imaginary wrong that these clowns can come up with.

They're no friends of the administration, of course, but it sounds like they aren't going to waste their time in the past.

If they could get their way we would cut and run from Iraq.

They haven't fully defined their Iraq policy, but Pelosi also stated unequivocally that they would not cut funding of the war. Seeing as how that's really their only way of forcing a quick end to the war, it doesn't sound like "cut and run" will be a part of their policy.

more useless soclialist programs

I guess this is the liberal gloat thread…go at it.

Jay, I can't imagine that too many liberals read your site, so I doubt there'll be much gloating. Even if there were, you'd never contain it to one thread. :)

BTW, you have my condolences on your loss. I just hope your party learns that it can't forget themselves simply because they happen to have full control.

"Of course, it could be a good thing that they won. Maybe this is what it will take for the American people to finally wake up to the enemy within"

Jim Webb declared winner in VA?
Allahpundit has a screen shot from FOXNews reporting that AP has declared Webb the winner. CNN.com says the same thing. I'm not sure when we started letting AP choose our Senators but maybe they know something the rest of us
