The ACLU is a non government organization connected with the United Nation and pledged to carry out the latter’s principles so this is not surprise.

The move I am referring was that made by the American Civil Liberties Union to take a domestic US battle, over Illegal Immigration, to an international stage.

That's an incorrect characterization.

All persons have certain basic rights. It doesn't matter what crimes someone commits, you do not have the right to abuse that person. The illegals in this story should certainly be deported, but that doesn't mean their case has no merit.

As to the venue chosen, I don't know enough about our treaties to know whether or not the plaintiff's assertions are correct, but I don't believe they are absurd.

The Scalia quote referred to a death penalty case which had nothing to do with any international treaties. He was rebuking Justice Stevens for essentially taking an international poll.

I think it is likely that our country has entered into international agreements to grant certain workplace rights and I doubt there are provisions for those rights to be waived due to migratory status. If that's the case, then an international court would have some level of jurisdiction over the matter.
