Mike Gallagher has Shirley Phelps Roper on the radio right now, and he’s offering a deal. He’s going to trade them an hour of national airtime if she promises they’ll leave those girls’ funerals alone. He first offered her and her “church” $50,000, but she wouldn’t take that. But Shirley is going to agree to the airtime, but she says only if it’s before the funerals. She said “we won’t go to the funerals.” Yeah, right…

This hate group doesn’t know when to stop. If you thought the Westboro Hate Cult couldn’t get any sicker, they have just proven you wrong.
The Westboro Baptist Church — described as a hate group by the Anti-Defamation League — has made a name for itself by picketing the funerals of U.S. troops killed in Iraq. The troops are dying as punishment for America’s tolerance of homosexuality, the group says.
The Westboro group says the Amish school girls were “killed by a madman in punishment for Gov. Ed Rendell’s blasphemous sins against Westboro Baptist Church.
“Gov. Ed Rendell — speaking and acting in his official capacity to bind the State of Pennsylvania — slandered and mocked and ridiculed and condemned Westboro Baptist Church on national Fox TV,” the group says on its website.
“Rendell also revealed a conspiracy to employ the State’s police powers to destroy WBC in order to silence WBC’s Gospel message. Co-conspirators identified by Rendell included state officials, citizens, lawyers, legislators and media,” the website says.
Westboro Baptist Church said it is “continuing to pray for even worse punishment upon Pennsylvania.”
A number of states have passed laws to keep groups like Westboro away from grieving families at funerals, but last month, a federal judge ruled that a Kentucky law barring protests within 300 feet of military funerals and memorial services is too broad and may not be enforced.
No one, and I mean no one, should have their funerals desecrated by a hate cult like this. If they want to protest gays and gay tolerance they should do it in the streets or somewhere. The ACLU have defended this sick group and are fighting laws that give the grieving families buffer zones in several states. What the slaying of these innocent little girls has to do with America tolerating gays is beyond me, but somehow in the twisted minds of this cult of freaks they have justified their actions on this. This is just plain sickening. I appeal to the Patriot Guard Riders, even thought this family isn’t military, and all Americans who can to do what they can to protect this grieving family from protesters making this day of mourning even more difficult for them. Absolutely sick. Nothing but a publicity stunt. Who do these freaks think they are convincing?

I’m more willing to tolerate the hate speech spewing forth from a group of Neo-Nazis than this God Hates Fags crowd. Free speech rights only extend so far, Phelps’ people are shouting fire in a crowded theater.
How do you figure? What bodily harm is likely to occur as a direct result of their protest?
What bodily harm is likely to occur? If they attempted to protest one of my loved one’s funerals..I’ll tell you what bodily harm would likely occur.
No doubt. I might do just the same. It doesn’t change the fact that our actions would be unjustifiable. Understandable maybe, but not justifiable. The “fire in a theater” analogy simply doesn’t apply in this case.
