Serious Vs. Stupid
Posted on September 20, 2006
Stumbling through lefty web sites, I happened upon this jewel of monumental mental midgetry on MoveOn.org (look to the bottom right corner of the site’s front page, under the “Member Stories” title):
Out of Iraq Petition
“Showing up…with nearly a dozen people… during a snowstorm made an impression that we are serious.” – Carl, MN
Ok, Carl from MN. Have a seat, take a sip of hot cocoa, and dig this: showing up somewhere with a dozen people to demand the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Iraq does not give the impression that you’re serious. It makes you a living joke. Do you know why you only had a dozen people with you when you looked like the poster boy for the Looser Left? Here’s a hint: YOU WERE IN A SNOW STORM! You see Carl, snow storms tend to be generally cold (quite often, VERY cold, let’s even go out on a limb and say FREEZING cold). Do you really think anyone looking at you from the inside of a warm, toasty building is going to think: “Wow, this guy is serious about his demands on pulling the military out of Iraq! Look, he’s showing up in subzero temperatures, pelted by snow! Call the Pentagon! He wins!”??????????
Here’s a hint, Carl: try this thing called a blog. You need a computer for that. Oh, and don’t try blogging in a snowstorm, computers don’t hold up very well to the harsh climates you subject yourself to.
Yours in disbelief,
Me

Maybe, but is this any more ineffective than trying to take down an organization like the ACLU using a weak tool like this blog? Everyone’s gotta start somewhere.
The idea is to get the message out that the ACLU is corrupt and can be resisted. This blog does alright while I do not believe those individuals helped their cause much by standing in snowstorm. It may have showed dedication and perhaps increased moral of those already dedicated to the cause.
