Flight 93 Crescent Is Back
Posted on July 12, 2006
It looks like the “Crescent of Embrace” design is back for the Flight 93 memorial:
“The Flight 93 Memorial Project has opened up a comment period (through August 14th) on whether it should proceed with its plan to build a slightly modified version of the original “Crescent of Embrace” design, or start over by adopting a No Action alternative.
I wonder if Phillip Paulson, the atheist who has mounted the legal battle – with help from the American Civil Liberties Union – to remove the Mount Soledad cross , could provide some help with preventing the “Crescent of Embrace?”

And the relevance of the ACLU to the Flight 93 memorial is… what, exactly?
Or is it just assumed that everything you don’t like must be the fault of the ACLU in some way?
Meatbrain, the statement that is being made here is that the cresent design is a religious icon. Since the ACLU is so concerned about removing a cross on a veteran’s memorial (which they claim is also a religious icon), should they not be fighting this as well? If not, are they saying that the often abused misconception of “separation between church and state” only applies to the Christian and Jewish religions?
Is the ACLU involved in any substantive way in the Flight 93 memorial controversy, or isn’t it?
