NY Times Paints US Military as a Bunch of Racists

Our troops are not only cold blooded murderers, rapists, or war-mongers, but now they’re racists:
A decade after the Pentagon declared a zero-tolerance policy for racist hate groups, recruiting shortfalls caused by the war in Iraq have allowed “large numbers of neo-Nazis and skinhead extremists” to infiltrate the military, according to a watchdog organization.
The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks racist and right-wing militia groups, estimated that the numbers could run into the thousands, citing interviews with Defense Department investigators and reports and postings on racist Web sites and magazines.
“We’ve got Aryan Nations graffiti in Baghdad,” the group quoted a Defense Department investigator as saying in a report to be posted today on its Web site, www.splcenter.org. “That’s a problem.”
But don’t question the NY Times’ patriotism.

I thought the Aryan Nation had the right of Free Speech. Could someone please be consistent.
Civilian Aryan Nation members, as much as I dispise their message, do have the right of free speech. Military members, on the other hand, are mound by the Uniform Code of Military Justice. In some instances this superceedes the rights the member would otherwise have. Anything that causes hate and discontent within the unit (i.e. racist messages)is not allowed. I wish all the folks, who take their rights for granted, are defended by those who voluntarily gave up some of their own.
What did the article say that was factually incorrect?
Is “patriotism” now a synonym for “ignoring the facts”?

Remember what Stephen Colbert says: “Reality has a well-known liberal bias.”
Why are they painting the entire military that way? It looks clearly like they’r worried that there are a few hatemongers in there. We should all be worried about that. Its not a good idea to send a white supremacist to Iraq.

Assuming that you have bothered to read the NYT article, Kerwin, what exactly does it say about the recruitment of racists into the military?
Looks like another misreading-cum-overreaction here at Stop the ACLU. Even after reading just the first paragraph of the story I can see you missed the point of the article, which is not to degrade the military but to highlight a growing problem.
I’m assuming – hopefully correctly – that Kerwin mentions free speech rights as a way of defending the hatemongers’ right to join the ranks. But if they’re allowed to keep gay people out of the military, they sure as hell better be able to keep racist filth out.

The “growing problem” based on graffiti in Iraq? Please. It appears neither you nor meathead have read the link either, other wise you would have caught the fact that this “growing problem” is based on…? How many Neo Nazis have they caught in the military again?

Anyone who supports legalized abortion also supports killing blacks at three times the rate of whites and Hispanics at two times the rate of white which makes them a bunch a racist filth. I have certainly not seen the Military keep out soldiers that condone killing their fellow human beings for any reason under the sun so I am wondering why they are picking on the Aryan Nation who are just a small tip of the racist iceberg.
The Democrat Party needs to get consistent also. If they are against racism then they need to stop supporting racist policies.

Why did I bring free speech into it? Simple if it is too dangerous to employ members of the armed forces that are also members of the Aryan Nation then it is also too dangerous to have them evangelizing and inciting others in the U.S. to violence.

It is the truth. Liberals are still the biggest racist there are.
The no fault divorce policy and increased cohabitation has decimated black families compared to whites since it has went in to effect. In 1960 blacks women age 25-29 married 60% to whites who married 83%. By the mid 80’s it had dropped to 32% for blacks and 62% for whites. Liberals are known support both practices despite the known increase in criminality in children of broken homes.
