One Court Upholds NSA Policy
Cross-posted from Right on the Right:
One appeals court in this nation knows what it’s doing, because it has barred a request to reveal information on the NSA Terrorist Surveillance Program. Of course, the local branch of the ACLU (the NYCLU) was siding with the man requesting information to be revealed. The man wanted the information revealed and also wanted the court to rule the program unConstitutional. No such luck, as the court did what many media outlets won’t do, and that’s that they defended American security.
COURT BARS INFO REQUEST ON NSA WIRETAPPING
NEW YORK – A federal appeals court on Friday declined to force the government to turn over information on the National Security Agency’s wiretapping program to a man charged in a terrorism case.
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in the case of Yassin Aref, an imam at an Albany mosque who is accused of laundering money for an FBI informant posing as an arms dealer.
Aref wanted the government to say whether any of the evidence against him had been gathered through the warrantless electronic surveillance program, which has been challenged by some civil liberties groups.
He asked the court to force the NSA to reveal details of the program, rule it illegal and toss out evidence gathered from it. The New York Civil Liberties Union joined Aref’s motion.
The NYCLU, along with their national counterpart, the ACLU, are being defeated in court after court when challenging the Terrorist Surveillance Program. Even if they did get a court challenge through, the program is entirely Constitutional, and even a man who helped write the FISA laws says so. Our National Security is continuously being strengthened as information is protected in the courts.
National Security of course, is not high up on the ACLU’s agenda. Taking down the Bush administration? Goal number one for Anthony Romero and the Leftist group. I’m glad at least ONE court cares about National Security.
That the NYCLU is aiding and abetting this gentleman in undermining national security is a disgrace as well.
