I also believe that the only way to purge our nation of illegal aliens is to eliminate their reason for coming here to begin with. How? By making the fine for being caught employing 1 illegal high enough to put Microsoft of Walmart into bankruptcy. Get caught with 2, the fine should be enough to bankrupt Saudi Arabia. Do you think the construction contractor would risk employing an illegal day laborer under threat of those kind of fines?

Wow, there was a surprise!

Sending the Guard to the border is a nice step, but he could have made it a meaningful step by employing the Insurrection Act and empowering the Guard to arrest and detain illegals until the Border Patrol and/or ICE could take charge of the illegals in detention.

Out military is experienced in handling capture of surrendering troops on the battlefield. They are searched, secured, and transported to a field detention facility where they receive a medical exam, food, and water. It is usually a short detention until rear area forces arrive to transport them to a more perminant facility for housing until the end of the conflict.

If our guys can do that on the battlefield with men who have been trying to kill them, don’t you think that they should be able to handle an illegal alien who is more likely than not to be unarmed?

The deployment in my opinion doesn’t go far enough.

As far as the employment authorization card, I believe that with today’s technology and information systems, the cards can be encoded with biometric information that could be checked electronically via computer to varify with the issuing authority that the person standing in the office seeking a job is the person that the card was issued to. That being said, I don’t see how that could be forged.

[...] Stop the ACLU’s response is on target. Excuse me? Repelling an invasion by a foreign nation is a civilian duty? Mexico is invading us one illegal at a time. It only makes sense to use the military to help stop the invasion. [...]

I believe sending the National Guard to the border is just more political pandering. Their activities will probably be so curtailed that they may aid invaders in entering our country instead of preventing them. I will just wait and see but I am highly doubtful.
