As a matter of fact, I can&#8217;t find any evidence of a push for a Christian theocracy from any significant group. John McCain&#8217;s push for a fascism notwithstanding, no one believes it would be a Christian theocracy. (As Stop The ACLU notes, McCain believes that freedom corrupts, and must be stopped. (he even has video!)) I can, however, find plenty of evidence of a push for a religious theocracy from a couple of other groups. Osama Bin Laden is pushing for a religious theocracy, but he&#8217;s not in charge of a significant group any more. We&#8217;ve pretty much eliminated Al-Qaeda as a threat to America. Iranian President Ahmadinejad is in charge of a significant group pushing for a religious theocracry, but a lot of Americans are saying that we should not take any action against him. It&#8217;s the weirdest thing. Some people are saying that Islam will take over the world without violence, merely by having more kids and outvoting everyone else in democratic countries. And there are people saying we should have open borders. Some say that any attempt to regulate our borders to allow only a certain number of people in so that Americans and American values always stay in the majority are racist or isolationist. It&#8217;s the weirdest thing. The new fight is the same as the old fight. It&#8217;s a fight over ideas and ideals. It&#8217;s a fight over the right of the individual to be free. Dr. Sanity has an excellent post, The left is so obsessed with things like the imminent imposition of a Christian theocracy; the imminent imposition of fascism; and the imminent loss of freedom of speech (See the Stop the ACLU link above – JohnJ) etc. etc., they have failed to notice that THEY are the ones who are imposing their religion; THEY are the ones who want to control all aspects of society; and THEY are the ones who have shut down free speech in the name of cultural sensitivity and political correctness.
