I have several friends who are Nigerian and spent most of their life there and immigrated to Austria at some point of their lives.

No matter whether they are christians of muslims there, it is not a matter of faith at all. If you are part of either side you have to be against the other.

To compare religion in a country like Nigeria with religion in western Europe or North America does not make any sense at all. I guess the majority of us who grew up in a society as we have it in Europe and North America would not ever be able to understand the social structure in a country like Nigeria.
There are many things taking place there that would shock about everyone living in the luxury or our societies, and I agree things need to change there, but they won’t change by making a father let his daugther marry who ever she wants to. There is a much greater change needed and those changes will take time. And if things change there for the better it might also have some effect to our lives, as the nigerian people want the standarts of our lives too, that is one of the reasons huntreds of them are leaving for Europe each year. It is mainly the men who have the chance to leave, but by now I know plenty of them who get their sisters, and cusins away from there too.

Muslims emmigrate & conquer continental Europe. Christians moderate and spot-reduce Muslim offenses. The Europeon right escapes to North America, the Europeon left escapes to South America. Allied forces hold fast in Poland, Malta, Italy, Greece, Great Britain, and Israel as a buffer to make sure Islam doesn’t try to bite off more than it can chew.

Sound like a plan?

Yes, we should be helping them, but we should also be condemning them.

The culture as a whole must be considered when you’re looking at problems like this. Sure, a lot of Muslim nations are behind most Christian nations, but instead of condemning them, we should be helping them.

Plus there are plenty of Muslim populations out there that are tolerant and progressive – here in the U.S. for example. Also Indonesia and India, which have the largest and second largest Muslim populations respectively, are both democracies with fairly good records of religious tolerance in recent years. (The Prez’s views on these two countries below.) I think all religions and cultures go through this stage, but with time, things only get better.
