Seperation Of Church And State Kills Easter Bunny
Posted on March 23, 2006
We have all heard the arguments of public displays of religious expression on government property. We’ve heard both sides of the argument, and you know where we stand. But, regardless of which side of the argument you are on, doesn’t this take things a little too far? Talk about political correctness overload!
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Easter Bunny has been sent packing at St. Paul City Hall.
A toy rabbit, pastel-colored eggs and a sign with the words “Happy Easter” were removed from the lobby of the City Council offices, because of concerns they might offend non-Christians.A council secretary had put up the decorations. They were not bought with city money.
St. Paul’s human rights director, Tyrone Terrill, asked that the decorations be removed, saying they could be offensive to non-Christians.
But City Council member Dave Thune says removing the decorations went too far, and he wonders why they can’t celebrate spring with “bunnies and fake grass.”
Absolutely ridiculous! Is this the kind of paranoia the ACLU has installed in our local governments? I’m having a hard time seeing how bunnies and easter eggs have anything to do with the religious meaning of Easter? Or is it just that Easter is a Christian holiday?

Umm, I fail to see the connection between an animated bunny and pastel colored eggs to the resurrection of Christ. How can ANY logical individual truly believe that the Easter Bunny is a religious symbol?

No, this is the kind of paranoia that groups like this have created. Groups like this have done such a great job of convincing the public that the ACLU will sue at the slightest hint of public religion, that governments and schools react out of fear over things that the ACLU would not even consider to pursue.
You have nobody to blame for this but yourselves.
