Roe Vs. Wade For Men

The National Center for Men has prepared a lawsuit nicknamed Roe v. Wade for Men to be filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Michigan on behalf of a 25-year-old computer programmer ordered to pay child support for his ex-girlfriend’s daughter. The suit addresses the issue of male reproductive rights, contending that lack of such rights violates the U.S. Constitution’s equal protection clause.
The gist of the argument: If a pregnant woman can choose among abortion, adoption or raising a child, a man involved in an unintended pregnancy should have the choice of declining the financial responsibilities of fatherhood. The activists involved hope to spark discussion even if they lose.
Donkey Stomp concludes that the lawsuit is ridiculous.
Which leads me into how ridiculous this lawsuit is. The father has as much responsibility to raise that child or give it up for adoption. He should not be able to duck out of financial obligations. If anything, men should be given more responsibility for fathering a child instead of less.
Don Surber makes some great points too.
Men who do not pay child support are vile little cretins who do not deserve to sit at the same table as civilized men. My own father went to jail before he paid for support for me and my sisters, sired during his 13-year marriage with my mother. That was in the 1960s before the federal effort to collect child support (the lawyer got 40% of the money — bastard).
That said, as long as we are going to pretend women have abortion rights, then the 14th Amendment compels us as a nation to extend this parental termination rights to men. This lawsuit should do what South Dakota’s misguided abortion ban cannot do: End abortion rights.
There have been cases of married men whose wives cheated on them, who were still ordered by the courts to pay child support for children the other guy fathered. Tossing the issue off as merely a problem of promiscuity ignores the fact that men aren’t treated fairly by the courts when it comes to their rights as parents, especially in light of the fact that while women are allowed to murder their children to avoid parenthood, by some twisted logic men are required to financially support the children they had no choice in being a parent to.
From Euphoric Reality
This is a consequence of Roe and the abortion movement that they didn’t see coming. Through all the indoctrination, all the constant IV feedings of “men are pigs” that the feminists have been spewing for years, all the emasculating of American males, the abortion movement probably never even thought that men were bright enough to see the big picture of unfairness in the whole situation, let alone actually get together and do something about it. As we saw yesterday, even Molly Ivins implied men aren’t capable of making decisions – especially where women are concerned. (I think that’s amusing, considering that for as long as humans have existed until recently, it’s been the male’s responsibility to do exactly that: make decisions that protect, care for, and provide for the female. That’s not sexist, that’s how it’s supposed to be.)
All very good points…I think this lawsuit is doing what it set out to do, put the issue on the table for a dialouge to develop….like the one over at Sister Toldjah’s

Very good point.
I don’t agree with this one instance, but it is definitely true that men’s rights are nowhere near equal and need to be fixed.
1. A man can be charged with child support if a woman becomes pregnant _by retrieving semen from a condom in a wastebasket_. How messed up is that?
2. I have an acquaintance here in Maryland who found out how unequal it is to be a man. His wife had a lesbian affair for a few years, but since the definition of adultry in this state is a penis penetrating, the courts ruled that she didn’t legally cheat on him.
YES – BUT ITS OK FOR WOMEN TO MURDER THE CHILDREN OF MEN. I HAD A WIFE THAT KILLED MY UNBORN BABY. WE ABSOLUTELY DIVORCED. THEN I HAD SEX WITH SOMEONE WHO CLAIMED SHE COULDNT GET PREGNANT AND I WAS FORCED TO SUPPORT A CHILD WITH THIS WOMAN. SHE HAS MANIPULATED ME FOR 12 YEARS BECAUSE OF IT. EQUAL RIGHTS? NOT YET. YOU PEOPLE WHO DONT GET IT NEED TO MOVE TO IRAN. AT LEAST MEN THERE DONT GET THEIR LIVES DESTROYED BY OVER EMPOWERED FEMALES. EITHER REPEAL THE ABORTION LAWS (FOR THOSE WHO MURDER CHILDREN) OR GIVE MEN BACK THEIR RIGHTS!!! THINK PEOPLE!!
It is blatantly unjust to enslave men for 18-22 years while women cannot even be compelled to do something for nine months. There is nothing ridiculous about this lawsuit given today’s laws. Unless Roe v. Wade is overturned justice demands that this lawsuit be decided in favor of the father.
I was with a woman for 4 years, she lived in my house, drove my car. I took care of her 2 children from a previous relationship, never once did I tell her I loved her, or planned on making a long term committment with her, it was just a relationship of convenience. She finally gave me the hammer, and said “marry me or I am leaving”….. I said “bye”…long story short, took her almost 3 months to move out and when she did, we still hooked up for latenight fun, finally I said no more and that I was moving, she then said she was pregnant, when I moved her last words to me were, “if you dont want to be in the childs life,I wont bother you for child support, but dont expect your family to see the child, 3 years later i’m nailed with child support and back pay. My wife and I recently filed our IRS refunds, all of which went to back pay, my wife is furious, knowing this woman is milking the state for all she can , and us. I am interested to see where this case is going. I can understand planned parenting where two consential people plan for children and agree, but “hey by the way,I am pregnant and you dont have a choice in the matter, so pay up!!!” Its un-American…
Well, fair is fair. But, I’ve been a “victim” of now 3 different womens decisions to have children that I would have to say, “were not ones that I would have chosen to have – at that time”. Though I am grateful for them (at least the first 2), I must say that if “I had a choice” – they probably would not be here, or maybe I would not be apart of there lives. I accepted my “responsibility” and have done the best that I can since. Then, here we go again . . . “a woman that I was ‘just having sex with’, and I made it clear that was all to it “several times” – nothing more, got pregnant and has decided to keep the child.” Looking at the future actually upsets me – but until such a law is “law” to protect me, needless to say – I’m the one who will end up having to pay – for a child I don’t even want. AGAIN !
What a stupid lawsuit! This man is an idiot for not “protecting himself” and these are the consequences for “his actions.” Now he says he shouldn’t be required to financially support the children he had “no choice” in being a parent to???? That’s crazy! He had the choice “not to have sex.” He had the choice “not to use protection” (there’s plenty of available contraception for men “just like women.” He had the choice to “buy them and use them.” It seems to me he also could benefit from a sex eduaction course. lol What an idiot!
LOL, I guess we could all benefit from an “EDUACTION”…….I’m still looking for 100% fool proof contraceptives on the market, maybe that’s covered in a “sex EDUACTION course”….
Oh shame I made a spelling error in my post..Silly me.
