Break In 9 Of The Alabama Church Fires

Posted on March 8, 2006

Authorities have identified 3 individuals who allegedly involved in 9 of the 10 arson attacks on Southern Baptist Churches in Alabama last month. They have arrested 2 of the 3 and are looking for the 3rd.

The 2 individuals who were arrested are students at Alabama’s Southern University. This is playing into my theory that they are Secular Humanists. Indoctrinates at work from the Communist Indoctrination Centers of America. The 3rd is said to be a student at the University of Alabama.

From FoxNews.com

Ben Moseley, 19, and Russell Debusk were taken into custody early Wednesday, officials said, and charged with conspiracy and individual counts in the arsons at five Bibb County churches and four in west Alabama.

A third suspect is still being sought.

Police said they did not receive any tips to lead to the arrest and that it was due to “old-fashioned police work.”

Moseley and Debusk are students at the Birmingham Southern College and are expected to appear in federal court today. A press conference will be held early Wednesday afternoon.

A joint federal-state task force has been investigating nine rural church arsons since Feb. 3. Those 10 involved church break-ins, with fires started inside. They also were all rural Baptist churches.

Police had been looking for a pair of “bosom buddies,” possibly two white males seen in a sport utility vehicle near a number of the fires.

The most recent fire left the Beaverton Freewill Baptist Church severely damaged in northwest Alabama, near the Mississippi line. The white, wood-frame church sat about 150 yards off a two-lane county road and had an alarm system that alerted officials to the blaze.

All ten fires were set in the pre-dawn hours of the day.

More to follow at Gribbit’s Word on this breaking news story. A press conference is scheduled for 3 PM Eastern.

Southern University? Aren’t they methodist affiliated?

Whatever they are, they are nutcases.

Well, Asshat, I mean actus, it seems to me that in a recent thread of mine (on my own blog) I wrote a piece on non-traditional pro-life groups. I also listed religious organizations which support abortion rights. And the United Methodist Church is on that list. Southern Baptist Church is NOT on that list. Connection.. Possibly…

However on the non-traditional pro-life list are the following:

    Atheist and Agnostic Pro-Life League
    Democrats for Life of America
    Pagans for Life
Pro-Life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians
Ironically, none of these fringe groups are firebombing churches. Even the pro-choice groups are not firebombing churches. But it does seem kind of fishy that drama students in a “liberal” University (and lets not mince words, a religious order which condones abortion is liberal) are “accused” of committing these acts of hate. Keep in mind, attacks on churches are hate crimes and this is a matter for the federal courts. As a matter of fact, two of the 3 have already had a hearing in federal court.

And they are being charged with Conspiracy and 9 counts of Arson at this point. And the third suspect has just been arrested and he has no connection with a so-called religious institution. He goes to a secular University – state sponsored as a matter of fact.

    **** UPDATE****

When I wrote this thread, I was using information from breaking news off of FoxNew.com and FoxNews Channel. The information erroneously named Southern University it is actually Birmingham-Southern College which is a Liberal-Arts institution with NO connection to the United Methodist Church.

“And the United Methodist Church is on that list. Southern Baptist Church is NOT on that list. Connection.. Possibly…”

Of course its possible, of course there is a non-zero chance. I have no idea if this kid IS a methodist terrorist. Just that the school looks to be methodist affiliated.

Follow the link idiot. Birmingham-Southern College is NOT affiliated with the United Methodist Church. They don’t even have a Theology Department. Can you be any more ignorant?!?

“Follow the link idiot. Birmingham-Southern College is NOT affiliated with the United Methodist Church.”

The about page.. First sentence: “Birmingham-Southern College is a four-year, private liberal arts institution founded in 1856 and affiliated with the United Methodist Church.”

    Ignorance is strength.

Key words “in 1856″. There is nothing in their current course selection or structure of the College that can be confused with being associated with the United Methodist Church, which I have a negative opinion of to begin with. But also keep in mind, that institutions of learning in 1856 were all run by religious organizations. There was yet to that point such a thing as public education.

After the 1856 reference to a religious institution, the United Methodist Church, there is no futher mention of anything religious. A few courses available. But wouldn’t it be expected that a religious institution have a Theology Department? Oral Roberts has one, Notre Dame Has one, Texas Christian University has one, Franciscan University of Stubenville has one, and on and on and on. But this place does not. Can you explain the lack of any connection beyond the founding?

    “Key words “in 1856?.”

That’s when it was founded. You think that modifies their affiliation?

“There is nothing in their current course selection or structure of the College that can be confused with being associated with the United Methodist Church,”

Other than the fact that they say they are. try this link. Religious life.

But go ahead, bad mouth some methodists for me.

To all who may be following this conversation.. This is not about Birmingham-Southern University. This is about 3 College Students 2 of which attend that college who are in the drama department who firebombed 9 Southern Baptist Churches.

Thankfully, you will not have to tolerate Asshat’s futher comments. I have removed him as a registered user and I will be adding his IP to the blacklist.
