"the ACLU doesn’t concern itself with gun rights."

The ACLU, like the SCOTUS, are aware that they can antagonize any part of the "crocodile" they want to, but to mess with the teeth has painful consequences.

Most gun owners and 2nd amendment advocates can clearly see that were the ACLU able to find a way, they would pervert the 2nd amendment as ruthlessly and incessantly as they do the rest of the "Bill of rights."

The ACLU, SCOTUS and every right-minded politician know that it is a volatile issue, with great ramifications, if you are on the wrong side.

For me to support the NRA, GOA or any other 2nd amendment group AND a group who would most definitely oppose "individual rights" concerning the 2nd amendment, is contradictory, double-minded and asinine, IMO.

Kender, Jay, and Loboink,

I probably should have said this more clearly the first time. You're right that the ACLU doesn't concern itself with gun rights. This doesn't really bother me, as there are plenty of other interest groups that concern themselves almost exclusively with gun rights. but it also means that just supporting the ACLU isn't enough for a civil libertarian like me, so I also support one of the organizations that is concerned with protecting gun rights.

[...] There seems to be quite a bit of disappointment going on at the ACLU lately. They are upset that Federally funded colleges have to accept Military recruiters on their campus. They are saddened that South Dakota is taking a stand to protect unborn children. They are upset that the Patriot Act was renewed. And we are sure they will soon have a press release expressing their concerns that the Intelligence Commitee will not be investigating the Bush Administration over the NSA program.
The 280-138 cliffhanger!
The Associated Press just seems so hell bent on opposing anything Republican that I think they don't even double check their own writing so long as it's biased AGAINST Bush. Here's today's example:Law enforcement officials get to keep their antiterror

"Yes, I know. That’s why I support the GOA in addition to the ACLU."

Well, you are 1 for 2.

If you have anything, anything at all, quotes, articles, legal actions that would show the ACLU willing to go to bat for you on any 2nd Amendment issue, I'm sure that I would not be the only one interested in it.
