Samuel Alito Theocracy Alert!!!

Posted on March 2, 2006

Justice Alito wrote a simple thank you letter to James Dobson.

“Dear Dr. Dobson:
This is just a short note to express my heartfelt thanks to you and the entire staff of Focus on the Family for your help and support during the past few challenging months.
I would also greatly appreciate it if you would convey my appreciation to the good people from all parts of the country who wrote to tell me that they were praying for me and for my family during this period.
As I said when I spoke at my formal investiture at the White House last week, the prayers of so many people from around the country were a palpable and powerful force.
As long as I serve on the Supreme Court I will keep in mind the trust that has been placed in me.
I hope that we’ll have the opportunity to meet personally at some point in the future.
In the meantime my entire family and I hope that you and the Focus on the Family staff know how we appreciate all that you have done.

Sincerely yours,

Samuel Alito”

Naturally, the left are freaking out!!!!! Theocracy alert! Theocracy Alert!!!!

Barry Lynn of Americans United for Separation of Church and State overreacted with this.

Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito has sent a cloying thank-you note to Focus on the Family head James C. Dobson, a move Americans United for Separation of Church and State says is further evidence the new justice is firmly in the pocket of the Religious Right.

“Justice Alito should follow the commands of the Constitution, not the orders of Dobson and the Religious Right,” said the Rev. Barry W. Lynn, executive director of Americans United. “This note strongly suggests that Alito is carrying out a right-wing agenda instead of being a justice for all.

“This is grossly inappropriate,” said Lynn. “Alito sounds like a political candidate doing a victory lap and thanking his backers rather than being a fair and independent judge.”

The Associated Press reported today Dobson received a six-paragraph personal note from Alito. In the letter, Alito thanked Dobson for backing his nomination to the Supreme Court.

Read the note, “This is just a short note to express my heartfelt thanks to you and the entire staff of Focus on the Family for your help and support during the past few challenging months. I would also greatly appreciate it if you would convey my appreciation to the good people from all parts of the country who wrote to tell me that they were praying for me and for my family during this period.”

Alito went on to write, “As long as I serve on the Supreme Court I will keep in mind the trust that has been placed in me” and expressed his desire for a personal meeting with Dobson.

Dobson and other Religious Right leaders enthusiastically backed Alito’s confirmation because they think he will restrict civil rights and civil liberties and rule against church-state separation.

Heh, I’ll let this one speak for itself. He is not the only one freaking out.

The sad thing is that’s exactly what they believe; “restrict civil rights and civil liberties”. The left seems to think we want a slave driven country where people have no rights.

Interesting that the AP sees 6 sentences as being 6 paragraphs.

Actually, anyone compelled to use five question marks at a time would seem to be the one “freaking out.” Barry Lynn’s statement, while unpalatable and perhaps incomprehensible to you, was calm and straightforward.

The hilarious thing is that if a liberal judge were to send a note to the head of Americans for the Separation of Church and State, you’d flip your collective wigs. Heck, this whole site is nothing but one huge glop of hypocritical hysteria. To wit:

“The left seems to think we want a slave driven country where people have no rights.”

And the right seems to think the left wants to hand over America to terrorists. And the morons running the show here seem to think that the ACLU wants to turn the United States into a communist country. Et cetera.

Dobson is a pig and should be slaughtered like one, but who cares what Alito sent him? Are people surprised that a known right-wing religious creep is toadying up to people just like him?

Heh, heh…the Reds are running scared.

How come these same people didn’t speak out when Ruth Bader Ginsburg didn’t recuse herself from hearing cases that showed conflict of interest because of her board position with NOW and work with the ACLU?

    And another thing…Zzzzzzzzzzz.

That was my first thought DeltaFox. RBG was once THE HEAD TOAD of the ACLU but that is OK for her, she isn’t biased at all is she?

I’m going to allow Blond Moron’s comment to stand just to point out what kind of over-reaction the lefties have.

“Dobson is a pig and should be slaughtered like one”

Classic hate speech from a leftie. You are free to speak your mind just as long as you agree with them. Freedom resembling the type enjoyed under the Soviet Union. Read two stories above and see what they thought of religion too.

It is moronic lefties like Blond Moron who keep proving our position that the organized left’s true goal is Communism in the United States.

And just a side note… This is exactly the type of comment from a commenter which should not be allowed. WordPress needs to have a plug-in which would allow for requirements of valid url’s and email addresses. http:/// is not a valid url.

You have to love the “tolerance” of the left. I believe it’s the communists who tend to “slaughter” people for their religious beliefs. Oh yeah I almost forgot that Muslim terrorists have that nasty little habit too. So which one should we consider you?

Funny how the “morons running the show here” have never called for the death of anyone the way you have.

It’s not just the ACLU trying to bring communism here it’s the fringe left in general. But the ACLU is spearheading the movement. Need we quote Roger Baldwin on this one?

Now wouldnt it be lovely if two happy circumstances happened at the same time, and soon like in the next few months. First, if one of the left leaning Supreme Court justices decided it was time for a happy retirement. And second, President Bush woke up on the right side of the bed, remembered his conservative base, and nominated another Roberts or Alito. Oh happy day! Let the good times role! And today, no pigs will die.
