The blogosphere is a community. An open post is a way that you can reach out to parts of that community that might otherwise be unfamiliar with you. Don’t just trackback and leave, visit some of the other blogs that provide links here, and expand your own sphere. Make some new friends.

I imagine someday I’ll have the time to find the right link to click so I can figure out how trackback works, but at the moment I’m almost too late for lunch and I’ve already skipped so many meals while working that my nailbeds have been pale from anemia all month.
