Iran to publish Holocaust cartoons

Posted on February 6, 2006

Update: Speaking of Iran, The Officer’s Club, has today’s must read.
As the cartoon controversy turns deadly, Iran has decided to add more fuel to the flames in the cartoon controversy.

“It will be an international cartoon contest about the Holocaust,” said Farid Mortazavi, the graphics editor for Hamshahri newspaper – which is published by Teheran’s conservative municipality.
He said the plan was to turn the tables on the assertion that newspapers can print offensive material in the name of freedom of expression.

“The Western papers printed these sacrilegious cartoons on the pretext of freedom of expression, so let’s see if they mean what they say and also print these Holocaust cartoons,” he said.

Iran’s fiercely anti-Israeli regime is supportive of so-called Holocaust revisionist historians, who maintain the systematic slaughter by the Nazis of mainland Europe’s Jews as well as other groups during World War II has been either invented or exaggerated.

Iran’s hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad prompted international anger when he dismissed the systematic slaughter by the Nazis of mainland Europe’s Jews as a “myth” used to justify the creation of Israel.

Michelle Malkin’s advice:

Yes, thank you–another opportunity to show how the civilized world–unlike the contest organizers and participants–do not react by waving swords and placards endorsing decapitation and annihilation.

I could think of a few cartoon contests myself. Everyone loves a good Holocaust cartoon.

Confederate Yankee has one of his own. So does Debbie Schlussel.

Bring it on! The rest of the world already knows what the Iranians think of Israel, so brace yourself for lame and badly drawn cartoons. It kind of feels like ” my drawings can beat up your drawings”. Rather childish but ok. Now as to the truth behind the any Iranian Holocaust cartoons…Let’s just say the Ayatollahs NEVER HAPPENED.

My favorite was when the coyote put a turben on his head, then strapped a nuclear rocket to his ass and lit the fuse. It was hilarious watching him smash into that rock!!!!! beep…beep

Denmark is rotating into a leadership position vis a vis Iran and nuclear proliferation, nuclear weapons. So, the “cartoon war” is a way to bring pressure on the EU. God help us if the EU doesn’t stand firm and that European nations don’t back the IAEA and censure Iran in the UN in a meaningful way.

Turn the tables? Yeah, sure. But hey, does that mean we can all start buring Iranian embassys around the world because they’re offensive? Oh wait, that’s right, we’re civilized, so we won’t do that.

I think it’s great they will publish the cartoons. It will show how backwards the “religion of peace” really is.

Let me tell you – this is no surprise. I am extremely disgusted – but not surprised at all!

i truly think we give more credit to theses Islamo-types (like the prez of Iran) for their political guile than they truly deserve…they suffer from the same shortsightedness as the left…they believe everyone sees things the same as they do, hence they expect the same reaction…unfortunately, the stark contrast that will be seen will still not convince many that this is a clash of civilizations…

And don’t forget to watch al-Jazeera’s pre-Olympic special, Wide World of Wahhabic Sports!

It sounds a lot like the arguments that break out between 2nd grade students in the school-yard.

    Your momma’s fat.

Yeah, your momma’s fat AND ugly!

It’s amazing that these people ever learned how to count past three…they seem to have the mental disposition of a small child.
