Prisoners Can Keep Receiving Sex Hormones

Posted on February 3, 2006

The ACLU is at it again!
From JS Online:

Four male Wisconsin prisoners who are trying to become women will continue receiving hormone treatments until at least August despite a state law prohibiting the practice, which took effect last week.

The American Civil Liberties Union and Lambda Legal, an Atlanta-based group that aims to protect the rights of homosexual, bisexual and transgender people, have filed suit in federal court in Milwaukee, hoping to have the law declared unconstitutional.

The law – believed to be the only one of its kind in the country – prohibits tax dollars from being used to fund either hormone therapy or gender reassignment surgery to treat a condition known as gender identity disorder. The four inmates assert that stopping their treatments would be a form of cruel and unusual punishment. They also claim it violates their right to equal protection under law.

The only one of its kind? How many prisons are supplying hormone treatments for people with “Gender identity” problems? I would sooner pay for psychodribble therapy!

“The Legislature is substituting its judgment for medical judgment, which is causing serious harm to our clients,” said attorney Cole Thaler, who represents three of the inmates.

Medical Judgment? There is no health risk for being a man who wants to be a women! This is not required treatment it is elective people! This is the kind of nonsense that your tax dollars are going towards. You can thank the left wing liberals for this kind of nonsense. This reminds me of the story I heard about where female inmates were getting plastic surgery, like breast implants, for image issues. We have really got to get a grip on this country.

This is the kind of battle the ACLU sees as worthy. We have got to put an end to this kind of Judicial tyranny.

Well Jay, welcome to the looniness of my daily experience. The City of San Francisco pays for breast implants and hormone therapy for its employees with GID. Did you know that? I have been friends with people who live that life and feel as though it is a psychological problem. However, I am not sure if the current standards of care really benefit them (that is for another discussion) because all they do is force them to live in the other gender and dope them up with hormones. They don’t change their DNA, only their body parts.

I don’t think it is the responsibility of American citizens to fund people’s sex change operations, as sympathetic as I am to the fact that they have issues. I think that they should probably be placed in separate prison cells because they may get beat up and raped for sure. But I don’t think that the prison system should pay for anything unless it is life threatening. I think they are asking for a bit much here and stretching the Constitution.

    To paraphrase Hunter S. Thompson

The ACLU is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There’s also a negative side.

I can go for that as long as we make sex changes mandatory. Go to prison, and have enforced “gender” reassignment. I think that may discourage crime a bit.
