ACLU Loves Terrorists

Counter Terrorism Blog has an excellent post up today about the ACLU.
The American Civil Liberties Union has sent a letter (Acrobat) to Department of Justice calling for the dismissal of the remaining charges against former University of South Florida professor Sami al-Arian. Citing Al-Arian’s acquittal on 8 of the 17 charges against him, the ACLU claims that since “the two most serious charges” were thrown out, that al-Arian should be set free, and that such a move would demonstrate that the United States “welcomes religious and ethnic diversity.”
While it is true that al-Arian was found not guilty on two important terrorism-related charges, the ACLU conveniently ignores that the jury deadlocked on several serious terrorism charges, including “Conspiracy to Provide Material Support to a Designated Foreign Terrorist Organization,” “Conspiracy to Make and Receive Contributions of Funds, Goods, or Services to, or for the Benefit of Specially Designated Terrorists,” as well as racketeering and money laundering charges.
Further, during Al-Arian’s trial, his own lawyers conceded he was affiliated with the “cultural, charitable” arm of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), a terrorist group which has claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent victims by sending suicide bombers to shopping malls, restaurants and buses. Upon news of the verdict, the St. Petersburg Times, largely favorable to Al-Arian during the trial, called him a “carrier of hate,” and said that, “[a]s a legal resident, Al-Arian has abused this nation’s hospitality and engaged in conduct that may warrant his deportation” – conduct which the ACLU apparently believes contributes to the “religious and ethnic diversity” of the United States.
PIJ is not the only Palestinian terrorist group to find its way onto the ACLU’s docket. There is more. Indeed, it seems that the ACLU is a terrorist best friend.
Just recently the ACLU filed a lawsuit defending someone accused of funding Hamas.
Two civil liberties groups filed legal briefs this week in support of a Virginia man accused of helping to fund Mideast terrorists, arguing that federal agents had no right to search his home without a warrant in 1993.
The prosecution of Abdelhaleem Ashqar in federal court in Chicago is the first case to test whether national security concerns can justify searching a person’s home without a warrant, the two groups said.
The ACLU has a long history of supporting the Palestinians.
“I’m afraid even the good guys on civil liberties are going to be against us on this one.” Those are the words of ACLU Executive director Ira Glasser on the ACLU’s decision to represent an agent of Yassir Araftat’s Palestine Liberation Organization.
I wonder if his definition of “good guys” meant American citizens who care about their country and are not willing to grant sworn terrorists complete freedom within our borders. If so, he is absolutely correct. We are against that one.
“Arafat’s group of ruthless murderers had set up an “information office” in Washington D.C, only a few blocks from the White House.
The ACLU are attacking the Patriot Act in a lawsuit over a terrorist loving Proffessor who’s visa was revoked. They claim the reason for the revoking of his Visa is that the Bush administration is trying to squash acedemic debate. They conveniently leave out a huge list of other possible reasons.
He has praised the brutal Islamist policies of the Sudanese politician Hassan Al-Turabi. Mr. Turabi in turn called Mr. Ramadan the “future of Islam.”
Mr. Ramadan was banned from entering France in 1996 on suspicion of having links with an Algerian Islamist who had recently initiated a terrorist campaign in Paris.
Ahmed Brahim, an Algerian indicted for Al-Qaeda activities, had “routine contacts” with Mr. Ramadan, according to a Spanish judge (Baltasar Garzón) in 1999.
Djamel Beghal, leader of a group accused of planning to attack the American embassy in Paris, stated in his 2001 trial that he had studied with Mr. Ramadan.
Along with nearly all Islamists, Mr. Ramadan has denied that there is “any certain proof” that Bin Laden was behind 9/11.
He publicly refers to the Islamist atrocities of 9/11, Bali, and Madrid as “interventions,” minimizing them to the point of near-endorsement.
Then there is the intriguing possibility, reported by Olivier Guitta, that Osama bin Laden studied with Tariq’s father in Geneva, suggesting that the future terrorist and the future scholar might have known each other.
The ACLU have opposed every effort our government has tried to fight terrorism, and has defended the enemy at every chance they get. The ACLU carefully walk the line of treason. Many of us think they have crossed that line, and we are sick and tired of nothing being done about it. The ACLU are endangering America, and something needs to be done about it.

It has been obvious for years now to anyone with half a brain that the ACLU’s agenda includes anything other than the preservation of our rights as a free people. They are, and will continue to be, the enemy of America. I agree that something needs to be done about them. Getting a majority of conservative Supreme Court Justices in place is a start. It is a shame they are subjected to all that crap ahead of time. I will be glad to sign any and all petitions to end taxpayer funding of the ACLU and am outraged to find out that my taxes are funding their garbage in the first place!
Its time they change their name to what they really are. the Against Civil Liberties Union
I love this crap!
Where would we be without right-wing conspiracy theorists!
Let’s deconstruct this tidbit of garbage, shall we?
1. “[...]the ACLU claims that since “the two most serious charges” were thrown out, that al-Arian should be set free, and that such a move would demonstrate that the United States “welcomes religious and ethnic diversity.”
First of all, his attorneys, Linda Moreno and William Moffet, make the aforementioned claim on behalf of their defendant. They are not affiliated with the ACLU. In fact, liberals all over the country are snivelling because the ACLU has kept such a low profile.
2. “[...]the jury deadlocked on several serious terrorism charges, including “Conspiracy to Provide Material Support to a Designated Foreign Terrorist Organization,” “Conspiracy to Make and Receive Contributions of Funds, Goods, or Services to, or for the Benefit of Specially Designated Terrorists,” as well as racketeering and money laundering charges.”
Maybe there’s a reason why the jury deadlocked. God knows, the government is bustin’ it’s [edited], spending a lot of tax dollars trying to convict this man (and his alleged cohort, Sameeh Hammoudeh).
These guys are in lock down. They rarely see their families, and they only get to see their attorneys for 15 minutes a day. If you were an attorney for these guys, do you think you might want a little more time with your client? Ahhh… the Patriot Act in action. It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?
3. “Upon news of the verdict, the St. Petersburg Times, largely favorable to Al-Arian during the trial, called him a “carrier of hate,” and said that, “[a]s a legal resident, Al-Arian has abused this nation’s hospitality and engaged in conduct that may warrant his deportation””
So what. The First Ammendment says that any [edited] can say whatever he wants (within reason). Take this blog for example. And if you don’t like that example, what about all of the pro-Hitler crap that was flying around in the ’30’s and ’40’s (and continues today). But then again, Hitler was a fascist, just like many of you who believe that the ACLU is actually a clever disguise for the boogeyman.
I could go on, but why should I? As long as you have this sandbox to play in, you’re not out there doing any real damage to those who support the Constitution, freedom, and the USA.

Permanantceasefire,
Let’s look at your view. It is OK to advocate the killing of American citizens, it is OK to fund, raise funds and support terrorist organizations so they can commit homicide bombings and kill more innocent people. It is OK for foreign nationals to violate our laws and have a get out of jail free card.
You people are skewed. We are a nation of laws. Deport this guy and the controversy ends. Deport all of them. They have abused their priviledge to stay here.
It is a priviledge, not a right.
Based on anything that I wrote, where do you see that I advocate the killing of American citizens?
Look again at what I wrote and see the truth.
This what I’m talking about. I advocate the 1st Ammendment and some fascist accuses me of wanting to kill innocent Americans. What the hell are you talking about?
Has George Bush’s ideology crawled that far up your [edited]? Do you really believe that if you dissent you’re ant-American?
Permanentceasefire: Has Al Gore’s ideology crawled up your [edited]? Do you really beleve that if you support America’s enemies you’re being patriotic?
..what am I saying; of COURSE you do. Hell, you’re proud of the fact.
The ACLU has been accused of being communist. I say nonsense. They are a bunch of individual anarchist and that is why they support terrorist.
I say deport all people who take advantage of tis great nation.jesus lets not wire tap phones for overseas calls lets sue the president for trying to stop another attack>Why? so you can blame it all on him and say he knew about it and did nothing.in my opinion the ACLU SUCKS. when al sharpton and jesse jackson support it han you gotta Know IT SUCKS
The people being defended, contrary to PermanentCeasefire’s view, advocate terrorism, the destruction of a nation, Israel, and the killing of Americans.
There is nothing wrong with advocating anything, however, their history has proved that advcation leads to action; murder.
Visiting this country is a priviledge. If you are anti American or advocate terror, you can be denied entry. You have no rights, except the right to stay home and fulminate.
“As long as you have this sandbox to play in, you’re not out there doing any real damage to those who support the Constitution, freedom, and the USA.”
You’re right. This site supports those that support the Constitution, freedom, and the U.S.A, as opposed to guys like you whose anti-Bush policy overrides the common sense and dignity to defend the lives of Americans.
” Ahhh… the Patriot Act in action. It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?”
Exactly. Now you’re getting it.
