Kennedy: “Alito’s Record Troubles Me Deeply”
Posted on January 9, 2006
Oh brother! Kennedy troubles me deeply! I didn’t get to hear everyone’s remarks, but I was unfortunate enough to catch Senator Kennedy’s. This alcholic lush gets on my nerves more than Dean and Polosi put together!
‘Under the president’s spying programme, there are no checks and balances,’ Kennedy said during his opening remarks. ‘There is no outside review of the legality of this brazen infringement on the civil rights and liberties of the American people.’
‘I’m gravely concerned by Judge Alito’s clear record of support for vast presidential authority unchecked by the other two branches of government.’
WND has a a little bit of the spew from Kennedy.
Kennedy pointed to controversy over President Bush’s decision to order the National Security Agency to wiretap conversations between terrorists overseas and citizens in the U.S.
“In an era when the White House is abusing power, is excusing and authorizing torture, and is spying on American citizens, I find Judge Alito’s support for an all-powerful executive branch to be genuinely troubling,” Kennedy said.
The Massachusetts senator said Alito “has excused abusive actions by authorities that intrude on privacy and freedom of average Americans.”
The judge, Kennedy said, has acted in favor of government, large corporations and powerful forces.
“Average Americans have had a hard time getting a fair shake in his court room,” said Kennedy.
Kennedy was followed by Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, who noted, to laughter, that his view of Alito contrasts sharply with Kennedy’s.
What a load of crap! The other democrats echoed his lead I’m sure. Kennedy definitely set the tone for this hearing. It’s everything I expected from the democrats. Taking advantage of the opportunity to smear Bush’s nominee with utter partisan nonsense, and at the same time use it as a soapbox to bash Bush some more. Typical liberal B.S.

Why would anyone pay attention to what Kennedy has to say???
The entertainment value?
Entertainment, just seeing that lush walking free after murdering a young girl is enough to raise my blood pressure. Every time he opens his sewer I get so aggrivated that I’d like to go down there and slap the friggin taste out of his mouth.
It is kinda entertaining. I like watching his face change colors and stuff.
I think Lyndsey Graham’s argument of a double standard is a good point. Republicans should take hold of this more, and maybe Dems will quiet down.
1st: Teddy Kennedy is an idiot…
OK, I feel much better now…
2nd and final: D.C. is controlled by the Republicans, IF they don’t do OUR bidding, FIRE them… Vote em OUT and get a new batch… And if they screw up, fire them too…
No matter WHAT those *hacks on the Hill* think, they STILL work for us…
And if a Republican controlled House and Senate can’t garner the votes to confirm Judge Alito, they HAVE screwed up…
I’m actually impressed Kennedy managed to get through his statement without using the word “coathanger.”
Can’t get it to trackback, so… http://loboslinks.blogspot.com/2006/01/coburn-real-debate-here-is-about-roe.html#links
OK Sen. Tom Coburn’s SCOTUS confirmation speech
I said it before and I’ll say it again..watching Kennedy make a spectacle out of himself..I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry….reality check…is Ted sitting in judgement of Judge Alito’s moral fiber?!
