ACLU Rewards George Greer (Shiavo Judge) For Death Sentence
That’s Right, the ACLU has selected Judge George Greer to receive the Gardner W. Beckett Jr. Civil Liberties Award. Civil liberties alright, what ever happened the inalienable right to Life? George Greer upon the insistence of political crony George Felos conspired to murder Teri Schiavo last spring.
Just in case you aren’t up on a few facts about the Judge Greer – George Felos connection, I will explain:
George Felos: Lawyer of Death
Michael Schiavo’s mouthpiece George Felos, was all over the news during Terri’s two week battle to stay alive. It made me wonder what kind of POS George Felos is. So I did some research on him. I have found numerous articles on Felos, and a lot of controversy too. Enough controversy to implicate criminal activity in the Shiavo case and more.In March of 2000, Michael Shiavo and George Felos secretly transferred Terri from the nursing home where she had been living to the Hospice of Florida Suncoast at Woodside in Pinellas County. This transfer took place without notice to the Schindler family. Felos also forgot to mention to the court that he was the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Suncoast. He also forgot to tell the court that the federal government was trying to collect $14.8 million that was unlawfully paid to Suncoast in Medicare payments.
Under federal law, in order to qualify for hospice care and Medicare benefits, there must be a proper certification of terminal illness. This certification must be signed by the Attending Physician and the Medical Director of the Hospice. This certification must be accompanied by a written statement that the beneficiary is terminally ill based on medical evidence and is expected to live less than 6 months. Terri was transferred without this certification. And she wasn’t terminally ill until her feeding tube was withdrawn. And she lived for 5 years inside that Hospice. And Terri isn’t an isolated incident.
Suncoast has been under federal investigation for unlawfully accepting patients who were not terminally ill and accepting Medicare reimbursements for them. During the investigation, it was established that 176 patients were not eligible for Medicare payments. And were unable to conclusively determine if 118 patients were terminally ill. Medicare payments totaling $8.9 million was accepted for the 176 ineligible patients. And $5.9 million for the 118 who were not terminally ill. And all during this time, George Felos was the Chairman of the Board.
The plan to end Terri’s life by withdrawing her feeding tube started to take shape in May of 1997. It seems St. Petersburg judge Mark Shames engaged in ex parte communications and failed to notify the Schindlers that Michael Schiavo had given notice to Shames of his intent to move Terri to a Hospice and have her feeding tube removed. Michael’s attorney at the time, Deborah Bushnell, informed Shames that the Schindlers had to be notified about Michael’s intent. In August of 1997, George Felos became lead counsel in the Schiavo case.
Once notified, the Schindlers initiated actions to stop the removal of the feeding tube. In May 1998, Felos filed a petition to have the feeding tube removed before 6th Circuit Court Judge Greer even though the actions were currently being heard in St. Petersburg. Judge shopping is what seems to have happened. Felos got the judge he wanted.
At the time, feeding tubes were not considered artificial life support under Florida statutes. In April of 1999, House Bill 2131 was introduced in the Florida House by the Elder Affairs and Long Term Care Committee. George Felos was on the board of Suncoast with Committee member Gus Bilikaris. Bilikaris is also a George Greer campaign contributor. On October 1, 1999, the legal definition of life prolonging procedures was amended to include, “including artificially provided sustenance and hydration which sustains, restores, or supplants a spontaneous vital function.”
In April, 2000, without court approval, Terri was moved to Suncoast without proper certification and without notification to the Schindlers. The certification was signed by the medical director who was employed by Felos who was the Chairman of the Board. The Attending Physician refused to sign the certification, which is required by law. Terri was transferred not on physician’s order, but Michael’s.
In 2002, Michael petitioned Judge Greer to put Terri on Medicaid. The petition was granted. Despite the fact, that in 1992, money was earmarked for Terri’s care and over $1 million was granted to Michael.
So let’s recap. Michael wanted Terri dead. He hired George “the lawyer of death” Felos. Felos shopped around for the judge that he wanted. He filed a petition to remove the feeding tube in his judge’s court (George Greer). Felos needed the law governing life prolonging procedures redefined. He gets fellow board member Gus Bilikaris to push it through the required committee which he served on. Bilikaris is linked to Greer through campaign contributions. Michael is living with and has children with another woman. DOES ANYONE SEE A PROBLEM HERE!
Not only did Michael Schiavo and George Felos conspired to kill Terri. They used their influence over others to get it done. This is nothing but pre-meditated murder. And insurance fraud.
So as a reward for his contribution for the right of a dirt bag to murder his wife, George Greer gets a civil liberties award. What a farce. This just goes to show you that innocent human life means nothing to the ACLU and people like George Greer and George Felos. But yet they will petition the Govenor of California to spare the life of a murderer who is scheduled to die by lethal injection in 9 days.
The ACLU has consistently shown it’s real motivations. But hides behind the name of their organization. I do believe that we have such a thing as Truth In Advertising. Well it is my opinion that the ACLU is violating these laws by pulling the old bait and switch. They lure contributors into their finely woven web of deceit, bilk them for their membership dues, send them an official looking card, and give them the false sense that they have contributed to the protection of the civil liberties of all Americans.
When the fact is they use the money that they collect to represent pedophiles, members of NAMBLA, murderers like Stanley “Tookie” Williams, and terrorists. They also use the money that they collect to file lawsuits designed to remove some basic American Institutions. They use strong arm tactics and a federal law to pressure communities to remove public displays of religion. They file lawsuits to enable local public schools to teach 3rd graders about homosexuality and that it is normal. And then they give out awards to their pet liberals like George Greer.

I’d like you to expand a little on Terri Schiavo’s “two-week battle to stay alive.” I won’t bother with your stereotypical, cartoonish hyperbole regarding Michael Schiavo’s “murder” of his wife.
Maybe my memory is no better than Terri Schaivo’s was at the time they mercifully pulled the plug, but wasn’t she in a coma for about 15 years? What defined this “battle” other than the crush of sudden attention from morons in Congress like the now-indicted Tom DeLay and Bill Frist, who should have his medical license shredded? Do we have sworn testimony from the unfortunate Terri herself?
Put a lid on your conspiracy theories. If you think political glad-handing in Florida doesn’t routinely favor the current redneck GOP administration, quit crying about the ACLU for just a few precious hours and crack a book. Learn something. At the very least, settle on one spelling of Terri’s surname, even if it’s an incorrect one.
And when responding, don’t be afraid to dazzle us with your supreme knowledge of irreversible, mechanically supported coma states and neurological medicine in general.

Even if all of these nurses were lying about the food Terry would eat. The testimony itself should have at least required a swallow test, if for no other reason than to shut us up. But no. Michael and his leftist groupies would not give an inch to this family, even though a negative result in the swallow test would at least make them breath easier about her condition. She was incapacitated for 15 years, without adequate medical testing done, and Michael walks away with over 1 million dollers of a 2 million dollar settlement claim that was being depleted for her health coverage.

Contrary to what the wingnut -in-the-air blogs have “reported,” Terri Schiavo had several different swallow tests performed before 2003. After the last one, medical experts agreed that there was simply no need for others, for the same general reason a car with no engine or transmission requires an oil change.
Why the hell do you think she rotinely had to have her throat vacuumed out so that she wouldn’t choke to death on her own secretions? A hint: because she couldn’t swallow. I suppose you could convince herself she was doing this on purpose, as a silent protest against being intubated and mistreated.
Besides, the swallowing issue a red herring anyway, because other tests of brain function previously and subsequently established beyond a doubt that this woman was never, ever going to return to the land of the living. Why not complain that no one gave her an “O-test” by tickling her whatzit?
Just admit it: The only thing that would have satisfied you is having Terri’s effectively dead body kept artificially alive by machines well into the next century. You and most of the commenters here are simply too stupid to have a useful opinion on this, and raw religious passion, as always, doesn’t compensate for an unlit skull.

Oh, I get it. Documentation of of Schiavo’s barium swallow tests — which established clearly that for her, “swallowing” meant choking to death on her own secretions — isn’t sufficient for you. You need a film shot by yourself or a close and equally deluded personal friend in order for the evidence to be sufficiently strong to stand as “proof” on your “brain.” At the same time, you deem the testimony of a bevy of Christian bumpkin nurses to be more powerful and useful than neurological tests. Yessir, you’re a bastion of fair and rigorous analysis!

I work in the medical field and I would like to say that most of what your argument entails utilizes fallacious reasoning and does nothing more than illuminate you naivete on the topic of medicine and I have more than 12 years in medicine to support me. But, for now I would just like to say that the “more than $1 million” granted to Michael in 1992 most definitely went to medical bills for the 12 years she was in her vegetative state. I guarantee that it cost more than $1 million for 12 years of care, so your argument is entirely unfounded and hence no motive exists. The reason I wrote this, as I am sure you already knew it if like any good reporter you did research beforehand, why are you attacking someone who is a victim of a situation and wanted nothing more than to move on with his life. Why can’t you just let him be and accept that bad things happen and there isn’t always a conspiracy. The density of fifth-degree rampant ignorance in this paragraph is both amusing and horrifying. I have nothing against apostle personally, since he — like his brethren in programmed, dogmatic cluelessness — didn’t consciously decide early in life to grow up to be Bible-whacking hayseed. What is so funny about reading this thread is that Beaming V. is called a communist after the comment from the original post of “”what ever happened the inalienable right to Life?”
Apostle’s position makes no sense. If he/she wants to bring agrees with the original post of honoring the inalienable right to life, he/she should give individuals the right to choose to die when they want and under the circumstances and individual wants. But I am sure Apostle is against euthanasia and not just in this case.
Apostle is the one who is saying that the state should have the power over Terri’s well being, not her husband. Her husband, as guardian, had the right to remove life sustaining treatment from Terri. Since she had no living will and he was married to her, he would be in the best position to know her wishes.
I find it very amusing that Apostle calls someone a communist when he/she is the one who is demanding the government to overrule the decision made by a husband regarding what he thought his wife would want to happen to her.

Google “age of the earth”, then “age of the universe”. See which one is closer to 14 billion years and which is closer to 4 1/2 billion years (that’s four and one half) If you are even going to “attempt” to argue anything scientific, I suggest you pull your head out first out of your butt, then, out of the old testament. Or, was this a trick question working your way back to 10,000 years ago when Adam rode a triceratops bareback?

Terri Schiavo was dead before they pulled the plug. It’s an affront to humanity that you are so cataclysmically brain-dead yourself that you don’t understand why this is so. Laughing and smiling? I have nothing to say about the issues being discussed. I would just like to point out that I find it interresting that Apostle thinks everyone except himself needs to give sources and proof. I have seen his opponents provide court documents, links to news articles, and suggestions of google searches for finding web sites that provide information contrary to that which Apostle posted. However, I have not seen a single link or source quote from Apostle. After all, it is Apostle who is making all the accusations by calling Micheal and the Judge murderers.
What Would I Pay For?
First, I’d pay to send some of you whiners to a remedial junior high school civics class. You know, the class where they taught you about the constitutional separation of the branches of government such as the legislature and the judiciary?
Greer deserves more than just an award, he deserves a Medal of Honor for standing up for the judiciary while all the politicos from the local level right up to the Senate tried to illegally override or end-run a validly rendered court decision.
Our constitution was specifically written to prevent that.
