I’m not saying anything about accepting consequences. I’m saying that you just need to stop completely trashing our friend. “deny the Creator”??? That is your religious view, and you are only helping me to prove my point by showing your religious intolerance. And I’m not trying to “sell” you anything. I’m not attempting to convert you to Atheism or Quakerism or any other religion. And what is this about “You don’t want the truth, it is contrary to your delusions”? If you’re talking about the fact that Tom Fox is there to help, then you are the one that is being delusional. I’m completely positive that I have my facts straight and that he was there as a part of a peace activist group to help. If you instead choose to believe that the President and the military have this “under control” as you assume, then why don’t you just get your lazy butt over there to get shot? It seems that you are the one without the responsibility.

If you are man or woman enough to make your own decisions and you decide to insert yourself into a dangerous situation, then be man or woman enough to accept the consequences of said decision.

Ok, people. If you want to be ignorant, intolerant, and completely naive, keep on talking. I happen to also know Tom Fox, and he is a wonderful person with no desire to harm anyone. I completely agree with the Light that shines, and I personally know them. Please, continue in your inflammation of people’s anger. It will get you SO far in life. Right, keep on thinking that, and enjoy your short lives. Your comments are so outrageous, I just can’t believe your naivete. If you knew someone who has been abducted in Iraq, then you would never, and I mean NEVER say these completely insulting things. I am completely outraged, and you seriously need to get some sensitivity. How would you feel if one of your friends was in potential danger, and some complete strangers start badmouthing them? Especially if you know that person to have such integrity and kindness and compassion, which you seem to lack. You need to have a deeper understanding of these situations before you start assuming all this crap, being steryotipical, and selfish. Oil is the least of our concerns right now. If these peace activists weren’t in Iraq, I’m willing to bet that the situation there would be SO much more unstable, and foreigners would be shot on sight. You wouldn’t be able to get to your precious oil anyway. Besides, which is more important, a human life or a machine running on limited supplies that kill the ecosystem and help contribute to global warming and the end of life as we know it on Earth? Just tell me that. I don’t care what religion you are in, I happen to be an atheist, and whether you’re Christian, Quaker, Atheist, Jewish, Agnostic, etc., you should still care that people are dying by just trying to help. The military is NOT peaceful, they kill people, split up families, destroy people’s lives, and just destroy! I am completely against warfare, as it is SO unnecessary. We are all human, it doesn’t matter what color our skin is. This is religious intolerance, and should NOT be so nonchalantly passed over as if it’s just irrelevant and stupid. I am just so fed up with all of these completely ignorant and unfeeling comments. It’s just unacceptable. If you choose to just disregard my opinion, put yourself in my shoes. O.K. Sneaky Bastard I’ll bite: Where is my oil? If this is all about oil, why are we paying almost 4 dollars a gallon for it? Even the Dems gave that argument up a long time ago. The proper interpretation of the Hebrew is “Thou shalt not murder,” btw. And we are doing to our neighbor as we would have them do to us: If we were ever ruled under an oppressive murderous regime, (like the Clintons) I’d like Iraq to come help. To light that shines on: apparently we disagree over the war in Iraq, and as a student studying to be a Wesleyan minister, certian theological concepts as well. But your post in noted, at least by me, and regardless of the non-essentials you are a brother/sister in Christ, and I see no reason to call you an idiot. You may want to note however that God does bring peace through war, even accomplished liberating a whole nation through death. (See Exodus) King Saul was punished for not killing everything in one of his famous battles. “There is a time for war, and a time for peace…” You know the reference. Jesus did not negate the OT, and spoke to us in a personal context. While at the same time, government authorities have a charge given them by God to protect their people and rule justly.

CPT isn’t in Iraq to ruin its chances at success. Neither is that organization working there to put the country in the hands of the insurgents. They are peace activists. Is peace evil? They’re offering aid to the Iraqis, not trying to harm anyone. Tom Fox was promoting awareness of what is going on in Iraq now, of how the current operations aren’t working like they’re supposed to, and that some things need to change. They are ultimately in support of a free, stable Iraq and a strong government, which does not mean the insurgents in charge. In fact, I think it is quite the opposite. Also, they were there to make a statement – personal beliefs, religious callings, what you will. Not bearing arms (”thou shalt not kill”?) certainly goes along with both the Quaker tenet of pacifism and broader Christian teachings. Tom Fox I know was in Iraq for peace. Not against the USA, against the current governmentm, or even per se against the war, but for peace. Don’t assume, even for a moment, that he and his colleagues want to leave that country a shambles, under a dictatorial regime much like Hussein’s. They are there to help in whatever way they can. I don’t see how keeping a blog that talks about personal struggles in Fallujah has anything to do with supporting the insurgency.

And what kind of peace activist are you if you bring peace to a country through war?

Jay, just because a belief is sincerely held doesn’t make it honorable. Despite their their benevolent intentions, their beliefs are repellent and their actions furthering those beliefs are to be condemned, because furthering their beliefs will deny freedom and bring misery to millions of people, and will also threaten the security of those who now live in freedom. The so-called peace activists who went to Iraq claim to have benevolent intentions, but they are nevertheless objectively evil. Their purpose is to thwart the best hope that Iraqis have for humane, representative self-government, and would leave Iraqis with the inevitable alternative of the cruelty of the head-choppers who, fittingly, have the “peace activists’” lives in their hands.

The real peace activists are wearing the uniforms of the US, Iraqi or coalition military. No organization has come close to bringing peace and freedom to as many people as has the US military.

Look…yes they are idiots for their beliefs. There is something else God gave everey person, and that is common sense. Well, some were obviously given less than others. I’m not resigning their death, I do pray they are rescued…I don’t think I ever said, anywhere that I hoped they died. However, I will take them to task for their beliefs. If you go unarmed to a gun fight, you are pretty stupid.
