The thing that strikes me strange about the Democrats demanding a time table is that we are at war and wars don't run on schedules. The Liberals act like we're baking a cake and there is a recipe that provides specific times. The Hippie types need to bone up on history, its called the fog of war and refers to unforseen circumstance that arise in heat of battle or in the course of a campaign. Let me share what the Commandant of the Marine Corps., General Grey said to my battalion in Saudi Arabia prior to the first Persian Gulf War, "Don't ask me when you're going home. You'll go home when the job is done." This is the reality of war ladies. Like it or not we are in for the long hall. My fellow Marines and I decided (1990-1991) that we best get on with the business of winning so we could go home with honor and victory.

Inquireth Jay:

"Where do these idiots come from?"

You mean idiots like Bush and Cheney? Why, from the private sector, of course. Places like Halliburton and trust funds. But make no mistake -- they have only the best interests of you, me and every other American in mind.

And just for Barney the troll, you mentioned the 2000 deaths in Iraq in the past, oh... nearly 3 years. Well compare that to some conflicts that were waged during Democratic Presidents. WWI W. Wilson 53,402 battle deaths in 1 year, WWII FDR 291,557 battle deaths in nearly4 years, Korea Truman 33,741 battle deaths in 3 years,& Vietnam LBJ 47,410 battle deaths in 11 years that totals 426,110 battle deaths under Democratic wars.

Now Republican wars Gulf War 147 battle deaths, Iraq 2,003, that's 2,150 deaths in 2 wars. The shortest wars in world history by the way. The Gulf War lasted 100 hours. The Iraq War major combat operations lasted 2 weeks. But even if you count all 3 years of the occupation, that still is only 50 guys a year. The Dem wars 19 years 22,427 battle deaths per year.

Ok for all you moronic lefties, pay attention here...

John Kerry in his rebuttal of the President's speech said the following, "...no one has said that we should run from car bombers" meaning cut and run because he took a phrase out of the Presdent's speech out of context. Now, it seems to me that Congressman John Murtha was doing just that 2 weeks ago.

Then there is the following available on Russ Feingold's website (front page btw)

"I believe that the American people deserve clarity from the administration regarding the United State's commitment in Iraq. I have proposed a target timeframe for the completion of the military mission in Iraq and suggested December 31, 2006 as the target date for the completion of the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq. I believe that articulating some plan for the end of the military mission can help to undermine the recruiting efforts and the unity of insurgents, encourage Iraqi ownership of the transition process, reassure the American people, and create space for a broader discussion of our real national security priorities."

Ok ok, no one is advocating cut and run. Make up history all you want. But the truth is the truth.

Of course, you realize that Iraq was not a hotbed for Al-Queda recruitment until this war for oil began (well, no you don't), and that Dick Cheney, the cowardly punk, has been spewing lie after lie out of his puckered, grimacing maw ever since we went to war (well, you don't get that either).

If Rummy et al. were serious, they wouldn't be fighting a ground war, which is unwinnable when the enemy thinks nothing of suicide tactics; they'd be bombing the hell out of those cameljockey pissbags until it was safe to move in.

Only someone at the height of delusional, rhetoric-swallowing bloodthirsty fantasy could believe that the 2,000 American lives lost so far have counted toward any sort of "progress," or that Iraqis have any interest in the sort of democracy the Bush people claim is in the offing. All those [edited] know over there is pain, so the only useful tactic is to hurt them.

When diplomats and civilian government officials can safely drive from place to place without fear of being kidnapped or bombed, the war will be over. I suspect that this will not happen for another couple of years at least, and I pray that we stay in Iraq until the mission is accomplished.Thank you Lieberman!
