Random Resistance Roundup (with Open YakBack)
Just a look around the blogosphere at the (voluntary and involuntary) members of the Christmas Resistance and what they're saying today. Although the Yaks' trackback system is still acting funky, if you link to us we'll do our best to include you her

Our nations' annual holidays define who we are as Americans, but
none of them as much as Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We all have so much to be thankful for. Primarily, we are all
thankful and should be thankful that we are all Americans, among
much else. *John 3:16

Please take a moment and read the GW proclamation and give it
some thought this week, and make your dinner more
meaningful. May the Spirit of the Lord, whom is adored, be
present at your table this special day. “Give thanks to God for
the glorious things he does.” Psalm 105:1

The George Washington 1789 Thanksgiving proclamation. Here's
what George Washington proclaimedin 1789:

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the
providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for
his
benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor -- and
whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint
Committee requested me "to recommend to the People of the United
States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be
observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal
favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an
opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their
safety and happiness."

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of
November next to be devoted by the People of these
States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is
the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that
will be -- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our
sincere and humble thanks -- for his kind care and protection
of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation
-- for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable
interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the
tranquility [sic], union, and plenty, which we have since
enjoyed -- for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we
have been enabled to establish constitutions of government
for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One
now lately instituted -- for the civil and religious liberty with

which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and
diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great
and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our
prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of
Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other
transgressions -- to enable us all, whether in public or private
stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and
punctually -- to render our national government a blessing
to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise,
just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed

and obeyed -- to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations
(especially such as have shewn [sic] kindness onto us) and to
bless them with good government, peace, and concord -- To promote
the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue,
and the increase [sic] of science among them and us -- and
generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal
prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New York
the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

George Washington

In the inadequacy of this email, I hope the spirit will be
sufficient. After I'm gone, if I am remembered for one thing I
hope I am remembered as being grateful. Also, The State is not the master of the church.
The church is not the servant ofthe State, but rather the church is the conscience of the State. Please do not seperate God from the state.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We are very glad to see Bill standing up for Christmas. This has been something that has bothered me for many years. Only in the past several years have I started talking to business about the practice of not using Christmas in their advertising. When I talked with our pastor about this he approved setting up a political awarness booth at our church. I keep information and petitions there which people stop by and sign. They also take my weekly news letter about what is happening to destroy Christianity in this nation.

Hi Ian! Long time no see. Thanks for deleting my comments on your site. So appreciated. A little dissent quite obviously puts Ian in a sour, petulant mood, but let's carry on shall we?

I originally posted a comment at The Political Teen bashing O'Reilly for being a hypocrit, peddling his "holiday ornaments" at The Fox News Shop while spewing his "secular war against Christmas" tripe and blasting everyone else who dares to say "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas". Apparently Ian didn't like what I had to say (though everything I said was true, but since when does THAT matter?), but sure was quick to throw up his own post on the topic just minutes after I submitted my comment on the matter.

In any case, Fox News has since changed the wording to read "Christmas ornament" rather than "holiday ornament".
