Please take a moment and read the GW proclamation and give it
some thought this week, and make your dinner more
meaningful. May the Spirit of the Lord, whom is adored, be
present at your table this special day. “Give thanks to God for

The George Washington 1789 Thanksgiving proclamation. Here’s
what George Washington proclaimedin 1789:

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the
providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for
his
benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor — and
whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint
Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United
States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be
observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal
favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an
opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their
safety and happiness.”

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of
November next to be devoted by the People of these
States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is
the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that
will be — That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our
sincere and humble thanks — for his kind care and protection
of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation
– for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable
interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the
tranquility [sic], union, and plenty, which we have since
enjoyed — for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we
have been enabled to establish constitutions of government
for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One

In the inadequacy of this email, I hope the spirit will be
sufficient. After I’m gone, if I am remembered for one thing I
hope I am remembered as being grateful. Also, The State is not the master of the church.
The church is not the servant ofthe State, but rather the church is the conscience of the State. Please do not seperate God from the state.

I originally posted a comment at The Political Teen bashing O’Reilly for being a hypocrit, peddling his “holiday ornaments” at The Fox News Shop while spewing his “secular war against Christmas” tripe and blasting everyone else who dares to say “Happy Holidays” rather than “Merry Christmas”. Apparently Ian didn’t like what I had to say (though everything I said was true, but since when does THAT matter?), but sure was quick to throw up his own post on the topic just minutes after I submitted my comment on the matter.

In any case, Fox News has since changed the wording to read “Christmas ornament” rather than “holiday ornament”.
