Resistance Mounting Against Alito
As the process of Confirmation plays out, forces are starting to mount to combat his Confirmation. The left is pulling out all the stops to block (or as we refer to it Bork) Judge Alito from becoming an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
The Washington Post.com reports on a group called Rhode Islanders for a Fair Judiciary is making the rounds on the hill trying to talk Senators into blocking the lifetime appointment of Alito to the Highest Court in the Land.
This is one of the groups which successfully lobbied enough Senators to block Judge Robert Bork in 1987.
“I know some of you might be wondering: Is this going to make a difference? It’s only postcards,” said Marti Rosenberg, the lead organizer here, who opposed the 1987 Supreme Court nomination of Robert H. Bork. “In the Bork fight, we got nearly 1,000 cards to Senator [John H.] Chafee, the dad. And we did beat Bork.” source
They are now working on Senator Chafee the son knowing that he faces an uphill battle to retain his seat. Chafee who is from the more liberal side of the Republican Party is Pro-Choice.
Should we worry, yes. We need Chafee’s seat to stay in party hands. And we should especially be concerned because Chafee sits on the Judiciary Committee.
Alito’s views on Abortion and states’ rights have been much publicized lately. We Reagan Conservatives are anxious for him to swear in and take his seat. We need someone on the bench who will not attempt to make law. We need what Chief Justice Roberts said in his hearing, and umpire. Not playing the game but calling the balls and strikes. (to paraphrase the CJ)
A more strict interpretation of the Constitution is required especially in this day in age when personal responsibility and humility have gone by the wayside. People think nothing of dropping the f-bomb in public, abortion on demand, children being taught sex ed despite parents’ approval, gay and lesbian lifestyles being portrayed as main stream, and a general degeneration of America.
A Justice Alito would remove that vote that would be instrumental in liberalizing America and return it to a more reserved and cautious court. A court which will judge based on the Constitution and laws of the United States not France, Sweden, or the Netherlands all three of which have extremely liberal laws.

It looks like they are going to be pulling out all their ammo eventually. I can’t wait for the final showdown.
If I am correct, Bush has slightly more than 3 years as president. Do the democrats think he is going to nominate an immoral judge during that time. I guess they want to filibuster for 3 years.
So what you’re saying is that you’re shocked that Democrats aren’t bending over backward to have a known right-winger Alito added to the SCOTUS. I guess this means that if a liberal candidate had been nominated, you would keep your reservations to yourself and expect the same of the conservatives in Congress? Riiiiiiight.
“We need someone on the bench who will not attempt to make law.”
What if someone on the bench attempts to make anti-abortion, anti-gay, or pro-gun laws? Or are those exempt from this standard?
“People think nothing of dropping the f-bomb in public, abortion on demand, children being taught sex ed despite parents’ approval, gay and lesbian lifestyles being portrayed as main stream, and a general degeneration of America.”
I think that by far the biggest shame is the failure of the American educational system. Now that everyone and his grandmother has a weblog, it’s easy to see that two-thirds of U.S. citizens can’t write, spell, or process information worth a good [edited]
I’m not sure why you’d be opposed to children being taught the basics of human reproduction even when their parents approve, but whatever — parents who are puritanically stupid enough to try to shield their teenagers from the realities of sex are free to pull them out of public school and stick them in one of the many backward-ass Christian schools across the countryside.
Also, though I don’t partake myself, gay and lesbian “lifestyles” are in fact mainstream. The fraction of people who are queer in this country is higher than the fractionthat’s Jewish; do you want all of the Jews to take their “lifestyles” and disappear too? Might it be time to quit nailing yourself in the ‘nads wit your Bible and just let others whose doings don’t affect you live as they will? And this, from someone writing on a site that claims to hate government interference with private matters.
