GOP FORCES VOTE ON IRAQ WAR!!!
Update: 403 to 3!!!House says NO!!!! to withdrawing troops! 210 to 202 on voting on it.
Via Drudge and My Way News.
The Dems, railing constantly about the War in Iraq, have found themselves backed into a corner by the House Republicans, who finally tired of all the lies and rhetoric and have decided to vote regarding whether we should pullout of Iraq or not.
House Republicans, sensing an opportunity for political advantage, maneuvered for a quick vote and swift rejection Friday of a Democratic lawmaker’s call for an immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq.
“We want to make sure that we support our troops that are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan,” said Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill. “We will not retreat.”
The Dems now have the chance to vote us out of Iraq, broadcasting their defeatism to the world and losing any chance to recover any power in ‘08.
Watch this vote closely dear readers, and you will see one of two things; The Dems backing their nihilistic worldview and tearing the party a new one, losing any chance to retain what little power they still have, or the Dems making a political move that shows their cowardice and their unwillingness to follow through with even their most hollow promises.

What does it show when democrats don’t want to vote on the GOP plan for withdrawl?
The cowardice of the Dems Actus…..knowing they are backed into a political corner and refusing to vote on the very thing they have wished to do for so long shows cowardice.
“The cowardice of the Dems Actus…..knowing they are backed into a political corner and refusing to vote on the very thing they have wished to do for so long shows cowardice.”
Who drew up this legislation? A democrat or a republican?
Guess you consider my meager little effort merely spam! ANYWAY – didn’t take from WIZBANG AGAIN.
HERE
Tired of all the same “stuff” from the “chosen few” – take me off the roll.
Actus?
It was a dem that called for it….now the GOp is simply trying to see if the dems have the balls to back up the rhetoric, or if they are simply a bunch of vote pandering chickens….
Either way, it was a badly thought up scheme of Murtha’s and I have no idea what he expected to accomplish with that move…..
But you can bet that the Dems are scrambling to figure a way out of this while the GOP is laughing all the way to the ballot boxes of ‘08
Sadly, Republican backbones will only stay firm so long as there’s hope of popular support of their 2006 campaigns. The closer we get to November 2006, the more jelly-like they will get. If Bush’s approval rating stays below 40%, the next demand for withdrawal will come from Republicans (McCain, are you listening?).
“It was a dem that called for it….now the GOp is simply trying to see if the dems have the balls to back up the rhetoric, or if they are simply a bunch of vote pandering chickens….”
That is not the dem resolution that is being voted on. Its a GOP bill written by the GOP, not the one that Murtha proposed.
Then what is the difference Actus?
Holy Crap Bat Man I could write a whole Blog entry on Sen Murtha. He came here in Iraq a couple months ago. Praising us for what a great job we did. He visited places out west like Haditha and told the Marines there “we are going to let you finish what you started” as I listened. He probed about requirements and gear and moral and was somewhat disappointed that we had what we needed and kept asking well what do you really need trying to find a problem. HE defiantly just pissed off a majority of the military now and has gone 180 degree from what he was saying and preaching about “Finishing the job” when he was face to face with us. He has been to Iraq ONCE for 3 days. Everything he is saying now is exactly the opposite of what he was saying when he was with us. He makes sound like he is a front line troop as he speaks. He is two faced and I have seen it first hand standing in front of him as he spoke to us. This is a very sad ploy by the democrats and will do nothing but hurt our troops.
Keep Attacking!
“Then what is the difference Actus?”
Oh you don’t know?
Whereas Congress and the American People have not been shown clear, measurable progress toward establishment of stable and improving security in Iraq or of a stable and improving economy in Iraq, both of which are essential to “promote the emergence of a democratic government”;
Whereas additional stabilization in Iraq by U, S. military forces cannot be achieved without the deployment of hundreds of thousands of additional U S. troops, which in turn cannot be achieved without a military draft;
Whereas more than $277 billion has been appropriated by the United States Congress to prosecute U.S. military action in Iraq and Afghanistan;
Whereas, as of the drafting of this resolution, 2,079 U.S. troops have been killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom;
Whereas U.S. forces have become the target of the insurgency,
Whereas, according to recent polls, over 80% of the Iraqi people want U.S. forces out of Iraq;
Whereas polls also indicate that 45% of the Iraqi people feel that the attacks on U.S. forces are justified;
Whereas, due to the foregoing, Congress finds it evident that continuing U.S. military action in Iraq is not in the best interests of the United States of America, the people of Iraq, or the Persian Gulf Region, which were cited in Public Law 107-243 as justification for undertaking such action;
Therefore be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That:
Section 1. The deployment of United States forces in Iraq, by direction of Congress, is hereby terminated and the forces involved are to be redeployed at the earliest practicable date.
Section 2. A quick-reaction U.S. force and an over-the-horizon presence of U.S Marines shall be deployed in the region.
Section 3 The United States of America shall pursue security and stability in Iraq through diplomacy.
Wow! What a bunch of slack jawed commies you are. Move to China if free speech is a problem for you. And please take this douche bag president with you.
“Ayn”? This thread had nothing to do with free speech……kindly take your meds, wipe your chin and go finger paint.
Thankyoucomeagain.
The demos know we are at a positive turning point in the war as Iraq’s defense grows and their government forms. They just want to take the political high ground on getting our troops home. I just hope liberals remember one thing next time they go into their little comfy Starbucks with one million choices of hot java and talk their hate. There are people suffering (our soldiers) to free and protect other people suffering (Iraqis). And at the same time they are helping plant the seeds of freedom. After all, it is true, free nations do not attack other free nations. We are fighting a different enemy (terrorism) and like the Cold War, many do not undertand that the threat is real. I’ll bet many extreme liberals still think the government put a chip in their butt. What they need is a (figuratively speaking) KICK in the butt! So for this Thanksgiving or next time you stop in for your comfy hot java, go for a triple expresso!! (Wake up and smell the coffee, don’t just drink it!)
